If you haven't seen my map Mercury, then go ahead. It seems to play slayer, Koth, and other competitive gametypes very well but I don't want to limit the map. I wanted to introduce a unique infection for a map like this. Most competitive maps have a generic infection setup like match-making's Living dead, or don't support it at all. Testing has revealed a quite flawed infection gametype however. I need help to setup infection and improve the "other" Mercury.

Well, there's two things you can do: you can use Infection-specific pieces (label INFECTION, gametype-specific is TRUE). Or you can create an entirely different map variant.

In any case, I can make a few recommendations off the top of my head. I'll DL your map and try to remember to look it over specifically, but in the meantime here are some general tips:

Be mindful of melee weapons' kill distance compared to that of the Shotgun. The Shotty has an inconsistent kill distance centered around 3.1wu, while the sword lunge range is a mere 2.2wu. Zombies have the best chance when they can come from around a corner, or when they can mass and rush as a group; a head-on charge is suicide.

And that's before we even get into the matter of the Magnum. You need cover. Cover cover cover. Lots of cover.

Be particularly cautious of how easy an entrance is to use. Let's say that the Zeds are coming down the tail end of a Y-shaped path, for example, and they're trying to break into the left prong of that Y. If a Human or two stands on that right prong with their Magnums at the ready, will the Zombies be able to see them? Or will they be capped in the side of the head before they can even turn to check that side? Be mindful of lines of sight as Zombies approach.

Stuff like that, more or less.

EDIT: Just realized that that was a map thread link, not a map DL link. Checked out the pics.

To be honest, my skills for multi-level design are... lacking. Or maybe they're not? I honestly haven't tried it. I'm noticing high ground in quite a few places that looks somewhat difficult to attack, but honestly I can't know for sure unless I actually play it (or at least explore in Forge).

I'd say: be careful about the elevated platforms. If a Human stands on one, can the Zombies lunge at him from the low ground? Do they need to? Or are there enough ways up? If a Human stands on an elevated platform to the side of a door, and a Zombie comes through that door, how long will they have to react to that Human before they get domed? Can they? And if not, do they have other attack options?

    Stuff like that.

I should show you the infection version, I haven't posted any pics of it. So Friend request me if you want.
