    Map Description
    Mendicant has been my pride and joy for the last few months while I delicately carved it's unlovenly form into what I believe is a truly great competitive map. It started life as a project to make an asymmetric map that favoured no one side over the other. Now whle this goal has come very close to being achieved, (so close in fact that it is hardly noticeable), asymmetrical gametypes like one flag are Mendicant's true speciality. All gametypes mentioned above however work well, even tricky gametypes like stockpile and infection work well on their default matchmaking settings.

    You may think that that is alot of weapons but believe me that with 8 people it is perfectly balanced and the Testers Guild agree.

    I downloaded this and played a quick team slayer. (4v4 was all i could muster). The thing I enjoyed most about this map is that it is set in a unique area and plays in a very open way. The gameplay was actually quick with several hotspots (mostly on the bridge area though and the opposing high ground when one team was pushed off. Would suggest maybe tweaking the way to the top of the bases.. like a ramp on the outside so that you can further the use and flow of the high "rock road" where the camo is. Map flow seems disrupted because of this. Good map.

    I love the look and feel of this creation. The natural landscape isn't used nearly enough in most maps and you have done well with it here. It's different than most of the cookie cutter maps out there. I think people, myself included, try too hard for perfect symmetry which can map a map boring. You have my download my friend and you have inspired me to make something new using more of the natural landscape. I hope to update you soon on how it plays.

    I had the great joy of testing this map early in the testing phase, i remember absolutely loving this map. Not only did it bring wonderful natural aesthetics to the table, but it also brought balanced gameplay on an asymmetric map. This is a quality map, i hope to see more from you in the future.

    This map reminds me of Equinox's recent map. I have to say therefore that the location of this map doesn't feel original to me (Equinox posted his map which used the same location not too long ago). To me it feels like you are trying to capitalize off of the success of that map.
    I also am not a huge fan of the prefab pieces that you used in this map. Prefab pieces when simply thrown onto a map cheapen the feel of the entire map. Overall, it's not a bad first map and I hope to see more from you in the future.

    P.S. If that sword is on fixed physics I would change it to normal; weapons on fixed physics cause various issues.

    Cove by Equinox was posted on 7/6/11 m/d/y here
    Vestihibitionist (first version of this map) was given feedback here on 6/5/11 after being submitted for testing 2 weeks earlier and started on a week before that.
    It was therefore started on 8 weeks before Equinox posted his map and therefore not a copy or inspiration of cove (which incidently I have not downloaded or played)

    The two bases while based on room,triples have been built upon and in the case of red base, been altered inside. I apreciate that this may not be as original as it can be, however it is far from two standard prefabs 'thrown' onto the map.

    If you had read the captions and/or the weapon list, you would know that the sword is no longer in this map and, for the record, when it was in the map it had normal physics. It's position was achieved by setting it's facing with coordinates and lowering it gently onto the map so that it stayed upright of it's own accord. A simple trick if you're patient enough to do it. Using this trick does mean that it gets knocked over by explosions(grenades) however.

    Thank you for your concerns I hope I have adressed them and I also look forward to releasing more maps in the future.

    I apologize. I had not done my fact-checking and therefore did not realize that this map had previously been named something else and had been in the works for a while. All I had seen was that this map was posted a week after Equinox's and it resembled Cove. Once again, this was a mistake on my part and I apologize for assuming that you had copied after Equinox.

    While it is true that you built off of the prefab bases; I still wish that you had made bases that were fully original. As for the sword, it is a common rookie mistake (which I, myself, have made) to put it (and other weapons) on fixed physics. From the screenshots it had looked like you had used fixed physics. I guess that it is a moot point since you have replaced the sword with a different weapon.

    Good luck with your future maps; I look forward to seeing them.

    As for the map, did you fix the grenade spawn times?

    I removed alot of the grenades and after watching your video realised there may have been more I missed which I may fix tonight. Basically apart from the ones by the sandbags, I have removed one grenade from each pair so it is unlikely any player will have more than one at once rather than changing the respawn times.

    And Knight of Order, I apologise if I seemed unpleasant in any way I just wanted to get the facts straight before the Rewiewers guild give me a low score for originality etc.

    On second thought, another thing you could do to improve the gameplay is reduce the spawn time of the grenade launcher (Pro-pipe), I didn't show it in the video, but every time I went by the natural rocks near the health kit, there was someone with the Pro-pipe raining down grenades on me.

    Pro-pipe = Human Grenade Launcher

    As for the 344 views and only 13 comments, there are so many maps on here that the average views are around 250 and the average comments are around 6. Don't worry about it, this doesn't mean that your map is sub-par, it's just that the site is crowded.

    In that case did you mean increase the spawn time? I think I'd rather decrease the ammo personally. Maybe just having two additional rounds should do it. My favourite solution would be to just have one neutral one but there's no where to put it.

    Just thought, what if I only put one in blue base and make it asymmetric only? That would reduce it's usage and give a decent counter to red's turret, what do you/people think?

    My brilliance knows no bounds ;)
    Map updated with idea stated above and spawn times on the weapons tweaked.
    Map is set up for all gametypes but I have yet to test territories properly, it should be good in theory and the game I had was fun but it would be good if people could give me some feedback on any variant of territories they have played on this map. Like I said I have put alot of thought into it but have yet to test so don't worry about having an awful game ;)

    I really like that you built the map in such a rare area, and that you integrated so much natural pieces. However, some rocks look a bit strange when they have different colors. Sometimes, you just have to move them a tiny bit to be perfect. Next time, if youwant to improve your map, do not use pre-made buildins for bases. It looks lazy and sloppy. Good work!

    Really? I've played this map alot and never noticed any bad rocks and I've never had a complaint before. Would it be possible to tell me which one you had an issue with since I honestly think you can't have played this map?

    Also please if anyone thinks this map is feature worthy or FHF worthy (I do ;) ) please don't hesitate to nominate it, it could do with some recognition!
