Rage is coming out on October 4th, and I'm curious to see your thoughts on it. I've reserved a copy because it looks .. nice. I'm not sure yet if it was a good purchase, but what are your thoughts? RAGE - Behind the Scenes: The Dawn‏ - YouTube
im really interested in this game. looks like something i would enjoy a lot. unfortunately, theres just so many games coming out this fall that im not sure if i'll be able to get it. right away, at least.
New video this morning: RAGE Behind the Scenes: The Arsenal‏ - YouTube Yeah I know. This has got to be one of the best gaming seasons as far as new games. I'm kind of glad I decided to pick it up, this recent video answered some questions for me. Now I just have to wait for the season to start. Why can't they just release games in the summer, why does everything have to come out in the first few months of school. Ugh.
I am very glad you posted this, I am considering this. Probly get it later, like around Christmas when it might be on sale because I am getting Deus Ex: Human Revolution to keep me busy until then.
Yeah I was going to ask for it for Christmas but I decided that because of the pre-order bonus content, I didn't want to wait. Damn pre-order exclusive bonus content! I wish it never existed. That's exactly what made me consider it in the first place. Borderlands was an absolutely outstanding game, especially for an original (hoping they do a second one). But yeah, this game has the Borderlands-esque feel I'm looking for, and was a big sell point for me. But from the sounds of it, they are focusing on an FPS style game, yet they have an inventory system and a large variety of ammunition (instead of a wide variety of guns). Sounds to me like an FPS RPG without the leveling system and skill trees. Dude, I've got five games pre-ordered now. Don't judge me. This game season has some of the best games coming out that I've ever seen, and I've said this a few times, but I just sort of dived in wallet first. They're all completely paid for too. Assassin's Creed, Battlefield, Dead Island, Rage, and Skyrim. I wish I could change the order of they're releases, because Assassin's Creed is going to have to wait in the plastic for awhile because of Skyrim. But Rage looks cool, so I just did it. ****. (That last word just felt right, not there for any specific reason).
Can't blame you, really. I have Skyrim and Rage on Pre Order, and I'm thinking of pre ordering Battlefield also. Along with that, there's Halo Anniversary and possibly assassins creed, although the latter might end up a rent.
It's not an original enough concept for me to be really excited about it. I can't say I'm excited about the Co-Op mode either, it's considerably lacking. It's rather disheartening to listen to this {url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Axejrf8uGA]interview[/url]. They're just behind the times in terms of design. If this game had come out five years ago, it would have been game of the year. That shouldn't discourage you from your purchases. I feel bad for them. It's going to be a tough year for them since they are going head to head with so many other games that are setting themselves apart. The thing that irks me the most, is that they advertised a complete experience. How is that quantifiable? No game has ever or will ever offer the total package. That's a major flaw in design theory. It tells me that they didn't have a core focus in the game and have tried to do too much which only hurt it in the long run. Again I feel bad for id. They've put a lot of time and effort into this.
I can understand not being excited for the game, completely opinion based. But could you just clarify a bit? How is the Co-Op lacking, and how are they behind the current design curve? Just wondering why you think some of these things, since many people think this is a definite GOTY contender.
i agree with rusty, to an extent. i was really excited about this game when it was first announced. even up to very recently, i thought it looked amazing. but the more video demos and interviews i watch, the more it just seems... done before. i dont really know how to describe it. it still looks like a good game, but a good game that ive already played a few times in the past. that combined with the lineup of games coming out this season, and i just dont know how well this games goona do.
Just because something has done before doesn't mean it has been done the best it can be. Anyways, it WAS in front of the curve, they just took too long to make it that borderlands and fallout came out before it did. (It was being worked on before both of those)
but it didnt come out before them. i dont care how long it was development. duke nukem forever was in development forever and it was a piece of ****. a game in development for that long has to constantly be scrambling to keep up with technology. fallout 3 came out almost 4 years ago. and it was done just about the best it could be.
Is it just me or does this seem like Quake 4 meets DOOM 3(with more than one person in the campaign) mixed with what feels like CoD 4 and Brink?
In your opinion, that is. In my opinion, the combat was ****, the graphics were ugly, and it reused too many voice actors. Still loved the game, just saying that there is always room for much improvement in every single game. I don't really think Id is having trouble keeping up tech-wise; Rage will most likely be the best looking console game to date. I'm just kind of thinking that most people feel like the post-apocalyptic setting has been done enough already, especially considering Rage is similar to Fallout in terms of the whole Ark/Vault plot.
Thank you for bringing that up and... well to be honest, that is the only thing I kinda feel is ripped from another game or franchise. Also people need to realize, the game is being published by Bethesda, the people that made both Brink and Fallout 3. There will be some similarities just because of that. (And don't even say the publisher doesn't design the game, they have the say on what goes into the game. If they want something in the game it's going to be there.)
While that is true, Id is known as the creator of first person shooters and has been working on this game for years. I'd say it's safe to say they have pretty much free reign over many of the features in the game.
its not going to be anything like fallout. comparing it to fallout is about as useful as comparing it to forza. fallout was primarily an RPG, rage is a straight FPS with almost zero rpg elements, to my understanding. correct me if im wrong.
