I couldn't agree more. Taylor Swift is pop, just cause the lead singer has an acoustic guitar doesn't make it country. Country: YouTube - John Denver - "The Eagle and the Hawk"‏ YouTube - I Hung My Head Johnny Cash‏ YouTube - Guy Clark Desperados Waiting For The Train(Old Number 1°)‏
How can one take so much pride in where they live? It must because I have never lived in one area for no more than 5 years.
Been in the same house since I was born. Not necessarily pride, just making a statement that Texas isn't really all Cowboy boots and Country music. Does this look like Country? YouTube - Chelsea Grin - Recreant‏
Texas is complicated. First you gotta know that there are many, many types of Texans. North Texans (Denton, Arlington, Fort Worth) "Western" to a point, ardent Texans, often Conservative West Texans (Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, El Paso, Amarillo, etc.) Oil, rodeo, farms, etc. Very "Western", often Libertarian or Tea Party Conservative East Texans (Marshall, Tyler, Lufkin) Combination of Louisiana and "Western", even mix of liberal and conservative South Texans (Beaumont, Galveston, Padre, Houston Suburbs) Chill. Urban Texans (Dallas, Austin, Houston) IMO these are only Texan in a technical sense. "Keep Austin Weird" actually means Austin is weird. The "Texan accent" East Texas twang. West Texas drawl. Pull up a satellite map, and draw a straight line to include Arlington and Victoria. That divides the accents. The whole Texan pride stuff? You're just jealous that we like our state Southern hospitality is true and highly present (but rare in Dallas and Austin) and we love it. The whole Republic thing (a lot more minor of an influence than we make it out to be) Just a lot of other little things I just love everything about the state except Dallas.
Haha yea, it's too ****in hot. Once I graduate I'm likely going to be moving where ever employment is..
I wasn't saying only Texans are proud of their state. It's obvious that TSB favors New York. I was just kind of curious how people can say "My state is so much better than yours" even though, from what it seems, you guys don't travel much.
I have been to several states, and they all were pretty okay. Delaware was pretty boring, but not bad. Despite it's flaws, Western NY is where I'll stay all my life. Nothing can make me leave it. Particularly because of the foods exclusive to it. Texas is just my least favorite state. It's an opinion of course, I just hate it myself. lol
Yea I've never been to NY, Cali, or anywhere really. One day i'll make a trip up to New York and watch The Silence Broken live!
