So, for those of you in the know, I ended up getting a new laptop today. Its a Samsung RF711-S01. Dont bother looking it up because all the sites I found dont have the specs listed that mine has. Its got an Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU, NVidia GeForce GT 540M 2GB graphics card and 6GB RAM. Thats all the important stuff. It also kicks the **** out of my old desktop, which I wont mention here. Im hoping it will run Skyrim easily, plus a lot of other games due to come out. First game Im going to get though will be SC2, as Ive wanted to play that for a while but haven't had a computer good enough. Oh, worth mentioning, since I Flexirented it, I got a free PS3. Dont really care about the PS3, its basically just going to be used as a Blu-ray player, but Ill likely end up getting God of War 1+2 and 3 as I love those games. Dont think Ill download anything from PSN, though, after the doin's that transpired recently. As a final thought, I dont care if anyone thinks I got a bum deal or if the laptop itself isnt up to their standards. Its the best PC Ive owned and its going to last me a while. Plus, I got a free Blu-ray player out of it, so Im happy.
Sounds pretty good to me, lol it's exactly like the next computer I'm getting Newegg.com - ASUS N53 Series N53SV-XV1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M w/ NVIDIA Optimus
Cool, nice laptop, free PS3, nice. God of War is awesome, the only reason I never got it is due to the lack of a PS3. And you got the laptop for Skyrim huh? Sweet. I bought my laptop specifically for a game too, but I won't mention which. My real question is, what is "flexirented"?
Asus are amazing, even their lower end models ,like the one I got, look and run like the expensive ones from other brands, maybe even better
Well, I got it because I wanted a better computer that wasnt a pile of space-hogging ****, but if it runs Skyrim well, I will be pleased. And Flexirent is a company in Australia (and possibly UK) that allows you to pay off something monthly as you're using it. So you're basically renting it from them, plus paying parts of it off each month. Was priced in-store at $1899, but I talked the salesperson into $1799, then she discovered that the floor-stock was the last one they had until the next delivery, so I talked her into $1700-flat. In essence, though, I ended up paying $20 more, as I opted for a 3-year warranty, which was $220. I was considering eBaying it off, but thought I may as well hang onto it. Mainly for the purpose of buying a few PS3 exclusives, and also for the Blu-ray. The laptop has BDROM and a HDMI port, but it would be a pain in the ass to have to hook the HDMI cable into the back of my TV and go through the whole process when I wanted to watch a hi-def movie. Plus, the lappy doesnt have optical out, so Id have to stick to my boring old TV speakers.
That's absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how you're ok with that kind of cost, especially when you could have found one with similar specs for closer to 1,400.
yeah that seems a little pricey. i just got an xps 15 with the exact same processor, graphics card, ram, a 750 GB hard drive, and it can read and write blu ray, for about $1,100
I really wouldn't spring for a warranty, either. They usually don't last long enough to be useful, and simply taking them to a shop ends up cheaper if something does happen, so long as it's only once or twice.
I forgot to mention that it has a 1TB HDD and a 17.3 inch LED HD+ screen, too. I know its a little pricey, but I dont really care. I didnt pay it all at once, matter of fact I haven't paid anything for it yet, until August 9th. Dont know where you guys are from, but price differences may lead you to believe I paid more than whats its worth. Besides, I really dont care about a, maybe, saving of $300. If I am able to pay it, why not? Its not an issue for me.
