I'd love to see your AR get nerfed, then you'll come whine about how bad it is compared to every other weapon.
The Ideal Halo Reach for me... -Give the option for bloom, on or off, if possible, the amount of it. -Give the ability to change how effective each AA is, IE distance of evade, height of jetpack. -Change Active Camo into a moderately loud buzz instead of a radar jam. -Give the option for the amount of time you can do anything after a punch. -More 4v4 maps. -Make Plasma Launcher and Splazer useable against spartans. -Remove sword cancel Basically I just want a little more freedom...
You only play the classic playlist or what..? I don't find the AR dangerous at all in regular playlists with standard Reach settings. At anything but close range, the DMR/needle rifle/pistol are all superior and win those battles at least 60% of the time; and in dual AR battles, half the time one or both opponents goes into reload before the other guy is dead. The AR is not a powerful weapon. It has problems (no penalty for spray-and-pray; no benefit for burst fire - except at ranges so long that you'd be stupid to bother) that could be addressed, but the actual raw power of the thing is not something I quake in fear about. When I spawn with one, I switch off to the pistol and start looking for a DMR.
Cant tell if this is agreeance or sarcasm. Blame the internets lack of being able to submit tone with statements :\. Either way, I play pretty much nothing but SWAT, with a bit of Team Snipers on the side. If I play anything else, I usually go for the load-out with a DMR, or go straight for the DMR on a map, so Im not afraid of precision combat, I welcome it.
Agreed on all counts. Especially the 4th one. I'd love to see the return of the BXR. And just thought I'd point this out, but it's called sword block. OT: Reach is pretty much dead. There's not much point in trying to revive it through a title update that should have released back in March at the very latest. 343 should spend their time improving the quality of Halo 4 to avoid making it some overhyped garbage like Reach, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo Wars were.
343 has announced that they are doing an update, and they have also addressed that armor lock, bloom, and the melee system need tweaking. And the rest of us are going on a tangent about the other things we want fixed... Maybe he liked how it added a level of skill that only helped those who knew about a glitch.
I think he's an MLG tryhard who wants the game to be as close to Halo 2 as possible. Quite frankly, I just want Reach to be as enjoyable Halo 3. I want that damn Bloom to be fixed appropriately so that when I get into a DMR Battle, the winner is the one who has a better shot.
Also: What? I thought ODST was awesome, second best campaign to CE imo. Overpriced sure, but not overhyped garbage, the Halo Noir was a great idea and very stylishly executed if you ask me.
It's completely reasonable to want bullets to fly straight where you shot them so that winning or losing a fight is completely under your own control.
The BXR was an obnoxious, game-breaking glitch. There was no "Competitive edge" involved, it was simply a broken game mechanic that ruined close-range combat. And on that second note, Reach might be dead in your eyes, but not in the eyes of others. It still contains the most up-to-date forge system in Halo, and there are still thousands that love it for that reason. Reach wasn't supposed to be an improvement upon Halo 3 or Halo 2, it's a game of its own, with its own mechanics. If anything, it was an experiment. The AA's add quite a bit of depth to halo, and going back to Halo 3 seems just stale in comparison. Now that 343 knows about the issues that certain AA's cause, they can be improved upon in the future, possibly with the title update or Halo 4.
Mostly on topic (now, anyway); Why was the BxR so popular? The BxB was much more effective, and much more likely to work.
That's your opinion, and I respect it, but I also disagree. There was a pretty decent amount of hype surrounding Halo 3: Recon, later known as ODST, at E3 2009. You may not have been disappointed, but to be honest, I was expecting a lot more from that game. We have a winner! Also, Halo 2 was the best multiplayer Halo (if you had a good connection), so why would you not want a game to be just as good? You probably weren't very good or knowledgeable back in Halo 2 if you think that. The BXR added a completely new set of skill that Halo had never seen before at that point. It also made montages a bit more diverse. The return of the BXR will help make Halo what it should be again. As for my point on Reach being dead, it still stands. Like you said, there are still thousands that love it for that reason. There were more than just thousands back in previous Halo titles. Halo: Reach is a downgrade in terms of both quality and population. The only thing that improved was forge while everything that truly mattered suffered. I'm all for giving players the freedom to customize their options, and improved graphics, but when you have gameplay suffer because of it, then it needs to stop. Bungie ****ed up badly on this one. They could have stopped at any moment to do something good for gameplay. Instead, they did the exact opposite. They added Bloom and AA's to make it seem like CoD. They attracted a bunch of CoD fanboys and killed what was a Halo title. There are few true Halo fans still playing Reach.
Button blitches are button glitches. It was not an intended addition to the game, it was an exploitation by the players.
