    Twist

    Created by Ninjabreadman

    Map Description
This map has a layout designed for 2-4 players and was strongly influenced by the Halo CE maps Wizard and Derelict. Twist has unique lines of sight and great map movement. The upper portion of the map features longer lines of sight and more long ranged combat while the lower areas promote short to mid-range battles.
    Weapon List
    Dmr x 2
    Needler x 1
    Plasma Pistol x 1
    plasma Grenades x 2
Shotgun x 1 (3 Min spawn with no extra ammo)
Sniper x 1 (3 min spawn with only 1 clip.)
    Health packs x 2
Active Camo x 1 (3 min spawn time.)

    Inspiration
The fastest internet available were I live is slow and laggy. It is practically impossible for me to play matchmaking, or to forge with anyone online. The only time I get to play Reach with my buddies is if they come over to my place, or vice-versa. Because of this I usually only get to play split-screen, and only with a few people. Many of the maps here on ForgeHub are too large for us, and are designed for 4v4 teamslayer, or BTB, ect. I then got the idea to forge a map specifically designed for a small number of people.

    Slightly Important Note
I recommend that anyone intending to play on this map slightly tweak the player jump-height and gravity, as well as speed so movement functions more like Halo 3. This provides the map with faster gameplay.

Feel free to comment on my crazy awesome Microsoft Paint skills.

Here is one of the lifts I mentioned earlier.

I was initially going to provide a gameplay video with some additional action shots, but sadly my 360 refused to upload them to the internet for some strange reason. I apologize.

    Well, That's about It.

I would like to thank Flaming Mooshy and all of my friends who playtested this map with me. I would also like the thank Spawn of Saltine for the picture posting guide.

Finally, I would like to thank anyone who critiques my map.

Simple, and to the point. I like it, and I can definitely see the inspiration. The color scheme is also really aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion. The only potential problem I can see is that the sniper might be, in the right hands, too powerful. The sightlines are pretty large, allowing a good sniper to kill someone from anywhere at anytime. Even the DMR could be a powerful weapon here.

Of course, I haven't played on this, but just take it as my first impression.

The maps seems far too simplistic in nature, while the balance maybe good it lacks that creative twist that sets it apart from other maps. Not only that someone may find the underside cramped and the top side a little open. in terms of aesthetics, 3/10. Balance gets a 7/10, while it is balanced it seems to me you could have created different positions for each team to create more interesting gameplay. In this map I find it that there is no real ideal area except for the side walkways MAYBE. Lastly originality, which only gets a 2/10. Indoor map, same thing I have seen day in day out with most maps. There is no real theme to the map that leaps out at me. Gameplay stands as a 5/10, Nothing horrible yet nothing interesting that someone hasn't already done. Overall that puts you at 4.25/10. Don't get me wrong I think you have potential, I rate you this way to see if you will take it to the next level.

Well, I wanted my map simplistic so my friends could understand the layout quickly. I disagree when you say the underside is cramped, however I agree that the top part is quite open. So was the map derelict, which is where I got my inspiration for the top of the map. I will play-test some more and certainly consider adding more cover. Also, I believe my map is original, considering this is the first map I have seen that takes the layouts from Derelict and Wizard and combines them in an interesting way.
Lastly, I think you may have misunderstood my map, it was set up for FFA gametypes, not team slayer.

I thank you for the review. If you could fit in a few matches on it and come back with more advice I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm glad you like the map and the colors, i didn't want my map to be gray (like most forgeworld maps are). The sniper hasn't been too powerful in my tests, but then again, I don't believe I have played a match with someone who could really put it to good use. I will consider lowering the amount of ammo to 4 shots. And from what I have seen no one weapon dominates.

    Thanks for the positive review.

Interesting. I like the light setup, and the effect you made with the large braces is very cool.

The sightlines, as someone mentioned, are long, but I don't see it being too much of an issue. After all, some of my maps have ludicrous sightlines and yet people still enjoy them. The aesthetics are good for a competitive map, IMO. They certainly could be better, but when focusing on gameplay, I totally understand not focusing on those aesthetics. I haven't had the pleasure of playing this map yet but when I do, I'll leave more feedback.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you seem to like it. I agree about focusing more on gameplay than aesthetics. A good example is that at one point during this map's creation I had forged the lower floor completely out of 2x2 banks and it looked really nice. However the frame-rate suffered =( I am happy with how it looks now though, it's much more colorful and the framerate isn't an issue whatsoever.
