This conversation seems to have gone quite off topic. This thread isn't about the Kinect microphone.

Speaking of, I can't see how they'd incorporate voice commands into Halo 4, unless they're planning to make it a squad based shooter.

As for the multiplayer maps, I really think it would be simpler if the campaign came on one disc, and the maps came as a code for DLC for Reach.

Then again, those who don't have Reach anymore, or sold it or whatever would be getting ripped off that way.
I really can't see how ALL Reach maps will be able to be loaded from one place.

I never said they would do voice commands. I cited ME3 as an example of integrating kinect with a controller game without detracting from the gameplay one bit and in fact enhancing it.

My guess is that installing the game(s) will allow you to access both map packs simultaneously.

It's a shame 343 isn't including their latest map pack in the Halo CE edition, I'd love to see those maps rotated in on a regular basis without having to go into a strict DLC playlist.

It will be interesting to see how 343 handle the maps. My guess will be either, a) theyre already on the disc and youd need to enter a code in order to access them, b) purely downloadable with a code when you buy the game, or c) if you install the game onto your HDD you can access them with the Reach disc.

All of these methods discriminate against certain groups in one way or another, however. The download options against people who dont have Live, or a Gold account, and the install method against people who either dont have a big enough HDD to install the game or those of whom dont have a HDD at all. They'll need to come up with an idea that satisfies all groups. The option to load them onto your HDD when you get the game seems the most viable option at the moment, because the maps will take up considerably less space than installing the entire disc.

Last I checked they didn't seem to care that much about these people at all as far as map packs go. Why would this one be any different?

In fact there was no solution for these guys through out Halo 3 multiplayer, so why would they do anything different now?

Because its a map pack that is to be included with a game, so they'd need to come up with some solution that makes it accessible to those people. Even though they may not have internetz or Live or whatever, it'd be pretty shitty to have something included in a game that you know is there, but cant use.
Well, Bungie did release ODST, which had every single downloadable map for Halo 3 on its second disc. And they also had a Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack disc that was released with several maps on it too. Given, this was Bungie that did this, not 343i, but they could come up with a similar approach or something that no one thought of previously. We will have to wait and see.

Yeah, not providing DLC options for non live customers isn't great, but having it so that you've paid for a physical item but then can't use some of what you paid for due to not having live is just unreasonable. I agree that it's unlikely to rely on either HDD space or Live to be able to play something that you've already paid for.

Honestly, I can't see them doing any of the above. I'm 90% sure that it'll work like this: The 7 new maps will be playable off the CEA disc, not installable, and at the 'later date' they've mentioned they'll also be put up for download as DLC for regular Reach. No codes, no installing from the disc, etc.

If this is the case, I'm gonna be a little pissed about having to pay for the maps again as a DLC to have them playable on my Reach disc, so maybe there will be a code or some manner of redemption option for those who have bought CEA, idk.

AFAIK the only thing prompting these discussions about weird options to do with included codes etc. is the question I quoted earlier about there being a way to play them all off one disc without having to switch. I'm still of the mind that this was just another mention of the 7 new maps also being made available as a Reach DLC later on.

To be fair though, ODST came out pretty damn far in to H3's lifespan, same with the MMP for H2. You're right that it's still accounting for those without live, but ultimately it's clear that it wasn't too pressing an issue. Also, the MMP turned out to be an awful idea. One person buys the disc and suddenly everyone they know has all the maps, or just rent it and grab them all that way. It probably wasn't so bad because it came out so long after most of the DLC that anyone who cared would have probably bought it already from Live, but it still wasn't the best idea in history...

I'm positive they announced that we would be able to use all the maps without having to change discs between Anniversary and Reach, so I'm doubting that they'll make us rebuy them simply because we want to play off the one disc.

However, I can see them including all the Reach maps Mythic Disc style, although I'm pretty sure they announced they wouldn't be doing that either.

They said there would be a way to play the maps without having to switch discs, they didn't say this method wouldn't require you to pay extra.

Don't get me wrong, I hope I won't have to pay again (and I won't, I'll just switch discs), but some people are talking about it like it's been specified, when it really hasn't.

They did announce that. JUST the 7 new maps will be included on the CEA disc.

That's that I guess, which me thinks means that as long as one person has the game, everyone can have the maps. Maybe. I could be taking it the wrong way.

Tie ins with waypoint? Could this mean more armor, perhaps that defiant helmet we've all speculated about?

I'm also pretty excited about the new firefight map which apparently does something Firefight has never done before. Perhaps we fight the flood wave after wave?

Good find. I hope that's sourced properly rather than them just inferring it from what we already know and then treating those assumptions as fact. I've seen sites/magazines do that before, but if they're right then that's awesome. I know a few of my friends don't want to buy CEA so I'll just let them install it to their HDDs for the maps.

EDIT: flood firefight would be awesome. I've always said that not doing it with flood in the first place was missing an obvious trick.

Well there goes all my theories. Good find though, Dunkin. Like you said though, Im going to take it with a massive grain of salt, because conjecture isnt always the best thing to base facts off. Thats how rumours start.

This is after halo 3, and reach was right before halo CE

and I belive it is either Forrunner or the glassed version of reach, so that thing in the middle is either another ark or the thing that keeps reach from not becomeing unfrozen

That's definitely not Reach, that's for sure.

    It's definitely forerunner.

True, so now people can see, this indeed has to be an ark upgraded with a halo around it or something such a like to the ark, possably a master ark....?

Its not an ark. Its most likely a Dyson Sphere.
