Ok, maybe I'm dumb, but this confused me. It says that the original reach maps won't be included on the disc. I take this as I can't play reflection and a new map that come with CEA off the same disc. If you read on it says that the CEA maps will be integrated into normal multiplayer playlists later on. This confuses me further. Can somebody enlighten me? Edit: nevermind it says later you can play all maps off the same disc. Just some bad wording confused me
No, the original Reach maps and 2 current DLCs will not be playable off the HCEA disc. The HCEA disc will only have the 7 new maps on, but they will also be issued as a DLC for the regular Reach disc at a later, as yet unspecified, date.
HOWEVER, they stated there will be a way to play Reach/DLC/CEA Maps all at once without switching discs, BEFORE they release it separately.
Questionable: That's not conclusive as to it being before they release the separate DLC. They could just be talking about the, as yet to be detailed, DLC pack for Reach again.
Really? Then why is it that I have absolutly no problems understanding people who use the headsets that come with the console or aftermarket headsets perfectly fine but someone using a Kinect I can't understand for ****? And in reply to the other folks about CEA maps being on a single disc or not. It will probably be something like the Halo 2 maps. When you buy the game you can load them onto your harddrive and then play them off the Reach disk. And from then on you only need the H:CEA disk to play the campaign. Or Else micro soft is gonna be their usual money grubbing **** selves and make us buy the CEA maps as DLC on top of the game in order to not have to switch disks.
Firstly, I can guarantee you wont be able to load the maps off the disc, because then all you'd have to do is rent the game for cheaper than the DLC, play the campaign and load the maps to your HDD. So It wont. Secondly, I'm seriously doubting they'll force us to rebuy the maps after we already bought them on the disc. Lastly, I don't see how it's possible to let us play every map from both games without having to swap discs. Perhaps if you have Reach/Anniversary installed to your hdd, they will load seperately? But then again that just means you could just rent the game and get everything again.
Well the only option I can see for it to work the way they seem to want it to is that a code comes on a card with the game like when the first Mythic maps came out for Halo 3. Buying Halo Wars let you get them early and without having to pay for them again. That would work.
You can understand it, but the console cant. The Mic is only programed to transmit voices to other players. The Kinect is programed to understand voices and use it to perform it's programed actions. As said earlier, theres a reason why Endwar is the only and last game on the xbox to use the xbox mic for commands.
i honestly cant see voice commands going too smoothly, even with the kinect technology. i think shouting at your tv because the game cant get the voice command right will be inevitable.
Hmmm... Could the CE remake maybe be just an add-on to Reach? No matter what it is, count me in, especially since it's only 40 bucks. Halo 4 looks awesome too.
You could call it an add on if you wanted to. It's just about what odst was to halo 3. A new campaign and multiplayer maps to add on to the existing game
...how far away is your xbox that you would have to shout at it? The kinect is pretty sensitive. Of course that means you need a quiet room or else it will pick up other people talking or random other sounds.
i meant shout in anger because it cant get some command right. even if you are close. voice commands just never seem to work right in anything.
I understood what you said. I meant that the Kinect is associated with crappy casual games because although it is a camera which can "see" people and cut them out from their surroundings, it still relies on defined positions and motions which means all games all Kinect games are going to based on that. As for the headset; although its not the best microphone in the world, it does have the advantage of being next to your mouth. The Kinect, on the other hand, apparently requires a living room large enough to park your car and players will have the Kinect by their TV while they sit, potentially, on the other side of the room. Its not just your distance, if the Kinect can pick up your voice clearly from, say, 5m away then surely it'll also pick up all other noises from 5m away in all other directions! Cost effective? £100 accessory for an optional extra on top of a game which is guaranteed to sell? So I'm glad to hear that HCEA won't be a "Kinect Game" but I am curious about how it'll be incorporated. My money's still on a Kinect UI.
It is only associated with those actions because the games that came out for it at launch are all that developers could do on short notice. Launch games should never be considered the model for what a system is capable of as has been proven time and time again. At this point kinect can not only decipher a person sitting but can track slight finger movements and common gestures. The tech hasn't been utilized yet for that stuff but the point is it can. The negative with a headset being so close to your mouth is also interference and volume which everyone has experienced at one time or another. Kinect does, upon setup, run people through a noise filter where it judges the baseline noise level of your gaming space. That is no fix to all situations but it does level out background noise and I have never had my xbox not recognize a command. Don't forget, Microsoft is marketing the Kinect heavy now. While a lot of people still have older xboxs and will not buy a kinect toggle peripheral, and even greater amount of people are getting the new xbox slim with kinect support built in and people can get the xbox and kinect packaged together for cheap. So with incentives Microsoft undoubtedly offers developers for integrating kinect in some way, and the fact that kinect's are becoming more prevalent it is in fact more cost effective than trying to set up hardware that wasn't made for voice recognition to understand it, that and there are dozens of headset makers. Point is whether halo 4 has it or not it won't detract from the gameplay and I'm sure it will be possible to play without it, so people should not freak out or hate it if it is "kinect integrated" Spoiler ...what?
