Confirmed and supposedly to be released for next-generation consoles, specifically the successor to the Xbox 360.

a new xbox? finally. i thought that they were just going to stick with the 360 forever. the 360 is nice, but technology has come so much farther since it originally came out, im excited to see how powerful it can be.

Crytek is a great company, but I hope they keep Timesplitters the same as in lots of crazy characters, maps, weapons, and map creators. They could change the core gameplay a little bit though to suit modern gaming.

I can almost assure you it'll have the same feel. Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical Design, will be developing TS4. It is their baby.

Eww at new system. But hearing that TS4 is alive and well makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Heavily rumored. It's not confirmed yet, so keep that in mind.

Even still, it's great to hear that something might be going on. I mean, we haven't heard a thing since 2007. I hope that the maps are really good and that the multiplayer is better.

I'm definitely excited for the new Timesplitters game.

I'm a bit more interested in the next xbox console though. The only thing I can think of that would be worth improving besides performance, would be the switch to a bluray drive. I expect the console to work with the Kinect, and have backwards compatibility as well (not like the backwards compatibility from xbox to 360).

I don't know what else they could do to "wow" people at this point.

I can think of loads of things that the Xbox needs improving on, it used to be the cutting edge in it's day.

    - FAR better usability for streaming all kinds of files from your PC
    - 500GB hard drive, or something in this region. Hard drives are cheap as chips these days.
    - Proper, dedicated graphics, developed by a company that makes graphics cards. Not Microsoft.
    - No more disk trays? Just insert. Much healthier on discs.

And the Blueray board of directors are all Japanese companies. Microsoft will never get Blueray.

    - Agreed on your first point
    - As long as every console comes with a HD I'll be happy. Although anything above 250 is just gravy for me
    - Agreed again
    - Disk trays are cheaper than the alternative... If they can do it and keep the costs down, then yes, absolutely. I just don't want to end up paying $500 for a console at this point.

I could still see Bluray coming to the next gen console. It's all about $, but MS will have to pay to use it.

Anyways... this thread seems to be getting off topic, I'm off to make a new thread about the xbox itself

I'd have thought they'd jump for a disc-slot when they redesigned the 360, it truly would lengthen the life of the disc itself. Blu-ray is a must at this point, the hell is the point of owning LA Noire when it's packed onto three discs? Lame. Some great points, here's to hoping at this point.

Anyhow, off-topic indeed, thank you DTL for bringing this conversation elsewhere. Let's keep to discussing the next Timesplitters.

ahhhhhhhhhhh I've been waiting so long for this game. Now to think it may take another 2-3 years to get it... :(

I hope in that time they figure out how to assign a jump button to the game. I could see a huge TS4 following coming from forgehub since the map editing is most likely going to be top notch. This game will most likely complete my gaming life. I've spent countless hours playing the past games that I think I could finish with this one.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but this infuriates me. No problem with you personally, Dunkin, because I have seen many people with this same feeling and I just fail to sympathize. Is it really, I mean really that big a deal to swap discs twice in a 20 hour game? Do you lose enjoyment? There's not even a break in pacing, since the game essentially stops to go to a black screen after every case and then load the next "episode". I just don't see how people see this specific feature as a major drawback to games.

It's just a matter of convenience. I like my games to come on one disc as opposed to three. I think most gamers would prefer any game to be on one disc as opposed to owning a multi-disc game; to be playing for hours straight and be prompted to get my lazy ass up and access the disc tray. It kills the whole mood for me personally.

It's obvious that everyone would prefer their games to be on one disc, but I'm saying it seems like an extremely small payoff in order to experience what games like LA Noire, Mass Effect 2, and FF XIV have to offer, to name a few.

Not saying that isn't the case, granted two of those three games I personally could care less if I ever played, however it is that big a deal that I'd rather go and play one of those game on the Playstation rather the Xbox. All for the sake of convenience.

No, getting it on PS3 so that it came on one disc ins't a big deal at all. But you said you didn't see the point of even owning LA Noire if it came on three discs.

Way off topic, it's clear you're looking for an argument in something completely meaningless.

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

I'm hoping they bring back at least a couple old maps; Hospital, Circus and Mexican Mission are among my favorites.

The gameplay, I feel, is timeless and tbh they could deliver TS2 in HD with XBL support and I'd be happy with that.

It would have been enough to have just said we were off topic, but it's pretty childish to say the discussion, not argument, was meaningless simply because you got caught saying something that you either didn't mean to say or simply can't defend any longer. But sure, if you'd like, the conversation is over.

On topic, I only played Timesplitters at a friend's house a hand full of times, but I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see what specific mechanics make a return for SP and MP.
