    Rendition (v2 out now!)

    Rendition

Rendition has been through a long journey, and now it's ready to be judged. It features a middle that I've been incorporating into maps long before any of you knew me and has been through several phases of development.

    Rendition (Halo 3):

Rendition began as a 2v2 CTF map created at the peak of Foundry forging. The focus of the map was on the basement, which provided safety from the frenetic paced battles above. It was among my first maps, and it was a huge learning experience.

    Necrology:

In Necrology, Rendition made the jump to Sandbox as an entry for H3FFMP2. In development, I decided to make it larger so it could support 4v4. Necrology made for some fun times, but in the end would go down as a failure, falling short of a MP2 appearance and never being officially released.

    Rendition:

This summer, I decided to bring back Rendition for one final go and after playing Shadowrun for the first time (at the urging of menotyou) I had the perfect inspriation.

When Reach released last week, everything was feeling right, I began to forge. After going through a few changes (namely the addition of the "Rock Corridors") I finally have decided it is ready for the general public.

    Weapons:

    2x Snipers (120)
    1x Rockets (150)
    1x OS (90)
    2x Plasma Pistol (45)
    2x Needle Rifle (45)
    4x Magnum (10)
    4x DMR (10)

    Gametypes:

    TS
    3 Flag
    Ball
    Nuetral Bomb
    KOTH
    Territories
    Stockpile

That's insane that the map has gone through that many rebuilds. This looks very solid and from what I've heard from H3FF members, plays really well.

    Downloading now.

Ya, it's been a very long process (more than 2 years). I'm quite pleased with the response this map has gotten (not so much here at FH though lol). I'm testing a new version later tonight if anyone here is interested.

    Thanks.

And thanks everyone for the support. V1 reached 830 downloads, now lets see if we can top that!

I am surprised this isn't getting more attention.

Though it shouldn't be shocking now that teleporters actually work, they work above and beyond what you would expect them to.

I still don't like the upper teleport rooms, but they are nowhere near as campy as I thought they were going to be.

    Excellent map.

Well, it is what it is. For some reason, my maps just don't appeal very much to the general audience here at FH.

There is an interesting meta-game developing with this map, and I want to see how everything unfolds before I realease a new version. It seems that players still can't decide if they want to set up on the sides or in the bases, or not at all.

What's really sad is that v2, with all kinds of improvements, has not even broke 100 DLs. v1 was above 300 about this long after release.

Genome is somehow still getting piles of DLs for V1 (left it on my fileshare, and I suspect people are downloading it from their recommended files list because the download links here and at MLG were both only for 1.1 until earlier today...) and the not many DLs at all for V2, so I'm right there with you.

Forgehub just moves too quickly right now for any map to really stand out, especially one posted in the MLG section where a large part of this community never ventures.

Looks great, I'll give it a try.

By the way, how'd you do that forge "sketch" or layout thing?

    Advanced Sketchup Objects thread

I'm pretty sure that thread has all of the info you'll need. Thanks for stopping by to check out the map!

This map has been hidden for too long. Enough! bunniesz, this map played amazingly in the games we had on it. There were a few games where for some reason you ended the game barely after it started, which was disappointing because it was a quality map, but the few games we did get on there were great. I liked the version with the grass much better than the other version, though. Or is that a different map using a similar idea? I can't really tell, to be honest. The inspiration from Q3TOURNEY4 is obvious. I think you made the map a little too advanced compared to Q3TOURNEY4, but it still works extremely well. I'm glad you made this, and it sucks that I had to discover it this late. It is now one of my favorite MLG maps by far, and I hope to continue playing it. I'm surprised how well-designed this map is, even in comparison to some of the newer maps in MLG. Guess evolving a design for 2 entire years really pays off, huh? I hope you post your future maps here on Forgehub, but it's a shame that it the MLG section doesn't get more popularity here.

Very neat map. It would be a blessing to see this in the MLG Playlist, over a few maps I'm surprised are even there(No offense to the creators of them, they are well forged, I just don't see them as MLG.). But aside from this, I did find something that you may want to look at; You can use the Jet Packs to get up and over the Teleporters, in turn, you can sit there and assassinate Peeps as they come through. Also, Hologram was taken out in favor for Evade. x3

    Edit: I still think the base Tele's need to be one way from bottom to top. No need to tele back down if you can just drop. o;

You know why that is? When Reach came out, all of the MLG forgers had this brilliant idea of flooding the competitive section with their maps to get more downloads. Because of that, it was never able to pick up; the maps that were supposed to be posted here were not, thus keeping it from getting the kick-start that it needed.

There was a LoS, longways, that was far to the point that the sight didn't even turn red for me, which was questionable in my mind, but there wasn't anything terrible evil about it. It was a good map in every way; I didn't personally enjoy the layout, but I enjoy a different style of map. I am somewhat disappointed that I didn't see this until now...
