I'm so disappointed by this. Im going to be the one waiting a few days to see how the game is, so because im not made of money and careful with what i spend it on, im NEVER going to get to use this content *slap* **** you smart consumer
Really, the only thing you're missing out on is the LMG. The sniper suppressor is pretty unimportant, and a shotgun isn't very useful in the BF games considering the size of their maps, at least in my experience.
It isn't a great big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's still a shitty marketing ploy. When people buy the game, they should be able to access all of the content that was made for it. Even getting cosmetic stuff is iffy to me. Maps and weapons though? That's pretty low and greedy. Withholding playable content just to secure a few early bucks pisses people off. It's not a great way to reward people that buy the game. The people that pre-order the game were probably going to pre-order it anyways. The whole pre-order thing was put in place to make sure players secured a copy on launch day. About the only thing that could make this worse for EA is if the content has download problems, which I'd laugh at.
People paying full price for a game shouldnt be missing out on anything. Also i want that sniper suppressor, no flash from shots is a huge stealth advantage i'd assume.
Developers shouldn't withhold content just to secure pre orders, if it's been made for the game, it should be available to everyone, full stop. And shotguns are pretty good, so long as you don't run around in the open.
The maps were an okay thing to add as a preorder bonus on my part. All they are saying is that those of you who preorder will get the first map pack for free. (At the same time as others). The guns, on the other hand, are not an okay thing to do, but everyone is making a mountain of a molehill with it. In reality, it doesn't really make a difference. Sure, someone who doesn't preorder won't be able to get every weapon, but what they are missing out on isn't even that good. Besides, even if they were good guns, its the player that gets kills, not the gun. You can have a good gun, but if you're **** awful, its not going to help. In my opinion, everyone that "cancels their preorder" is only making the situation worse for themselves. Why are you angry that others aren't getting content? Yeah, it's a **** market technique, but in the end, you are the one at loss. If you ever decide to get the game in the future, you've lost free DLC and weapons. And besides, I can guarantee you most of the people that are saying "canceled my preorder" are just saying that as a ploy to get EA to change the preorder bonuses. And don't get me wrong here. In the end, I don't care at all about preorder bonuses. I preorder a game because I know I want it on the release date, and I don't want to have to worry about keeping $60 tucked away until then. If I get extra content for it, cool. If I don't, then I don't care. As long as I'm getting the same content as everyone else I'm fine. If you have the chance to get that content, and you didn't jump on it, you're loss. It takes $5 to preorder, and you missed your chance. Whoop-dee-****ing-hoo.
I'm not saying it's ok for EA to do this, I'm just saying that, strategically, I don't think it will make a huge difference. Believe me, I've preordered enough games to have been screwed over by bonus content not given to me for free. It's a shitty part of the game industry that's becoming too widely accepted, and I'm glad people are fighting against it in BF3.
Pre-order and don't open until the few days after. As long as it's un-opened, you can still return it. In fact, they usually print out the pre-order content on the receipt. So you can basically get the pre-order content, then return it, then buy a used copy weeks later.
If you have the spare cash, you can go to all retailers and get all unique codes. (I'm not sure if there are store unique codes though) I'm a sneaky snake.
i only ever pre order stuff at a really close date or on the internet cos its like ordering it anyway.
Not true in some cases... If you pre-order it now you get the limited edition of the game and it will have the limited edition stuff/pre-order bonuses already in the box as some code. One thing I hate though is that even if you didn't pre-order it and still pick up the game a few days after release you usually be able to snag a limited edition copy of the game because we don't bother to hand them just the standard copy of it and places like GameStop like to sell the limited edition and then see if they can get a pre-order out of the guy.
That's why I said usually. You can still pick it up and not turn it in though. In the case of Halo: Reach, there were codes inside of the limited and Legendary editions as well as on the receipt. Regardless, I'm gonna be getting this for PC probably and pick up the 360 version later on. Taken from Gamestop:
mostly it's when the pre-order content is retailer exclusive that the code is separate to the game, but seeing as the content for BF3 is a separate edition it could be that the case and box art are different, then i think it will be a card inside. but we dont know if it is.
Just heard something at 2:32 in this video: YouTube - Battlefield 3: E3 2011 Day #1‏ "Just check out how awesome our kill streaks are" "KILL STREAKS" Kill streaks! Dont make it like MW. Hopefully I am reading into this a little too much.
If you like me and your only getting the game on xbox then you'll be surprised. The graphics arent that bad: YouTube - Battlefield 3 Gameplay (PS3)‏
