As I've said to every time travel theory in existence, no. I'm pretty sure that the chief did not go back in time. At all. Ever.

Not saying it isn't possible (don't think it is, but this is neither the time nor thread to discuss that), it's just highly improbable.

Chief did travel back in time. How else would he live the events of CE all over again?

I dont agree with the time travel stuff because:

    • 1) the whole idea of Chief going back in time is irrelevant, whatever he changes in the past would undo the future meaning his knowledge of the future would become pointless and he would of stopped the future from ever happening. Basically... It'd be pointless in terms of storyline because it would mean CE, 2 and 3 never happened... right?
    • 2) How ****ing confusing would it be having everything set in like 60 different timeframes? We've already got Reach, Wars, CE, 2, 3 timezones with different stories occurring here there and everywhere. Each of the stories tend to mingle in with one another at some point or other so managing to connect a timezone 2 millenia ago isn't going to happen. If anything, chief could have been frozen for a million years or something and the universe is in chaos from another alien species and chief could be old tech, instead of cutting edge, which would lead for a very strange storyline :/
    • 3) Kids play this game... even with it not being intended for them. A storyline that continuously cuts back and forth throughout time would just be damn confusing and I can't imagine it'll find it's way into the story.

ODST does that. And it's a Noir too, to make things more confusing. I don't think they care about kids. Halo's plot is always complex.

I made a point in my post to say that no matter the technology, it is theoretically impossible to travel between two galaxies, let alone multiple. They are just too far away.

And I doubt 343i would even bother trying to explain how the Forerunners could possibly use worm holes.

Calm the **** down. We're speculating here, you know, tossing ideas back and forth. If you have any real information on either of the games that has not been posted yet, I would like to hear(read) it.

    Hahaha

I thought you meant naturally occurring worm holes.

I apologize to those who I told it was stupid of them to assume there would be a mode to switch back and forth between the old and new versions of CE. I saw an interview today that cleared it up, and there was nothing left to interpret. It is called Classic Mode, and you can indeed do so.

Congratulations on completely missing my point.

Here is a blunt way that even you should be able to understand, if you want to talk about what is possible or not possible in real life make your own thread. If you want to talk about what is possible or not possible in a Halo game (ie, FAKE WORLD! key word there being FAKE) then discuss it here.

Otherwise your posts are meaningless and should be considered spam.

Also, 4shot's comment about Chief reliving the events of CE was probably meant as a joke tying in to the remake of the game.

Quit the arguing, for ****'s sake. Theoretical limitations are very much in play when it comes to what the humans in the Halo Universe can do (stretched, sure) as they use real concepts (currently unproven but still in wide appeal) such as Dyson Spheres/Tesseracts for the Shield Worlds. However, to completely disregard a concept thrown around because it is scientifically unsound is the equivalent logically: don't claim something can't happen in a fictional world simply because there's no precedent. Especially when you can do just about anything, story/technology-wise with an ancient race of space-faring wizards.

    Keep it civil.

Then the Forerunners' slipspace could probably travel to different galaxies.

I just had a thought. Wouldn't it be cool if Jorge survived the slipspace rift and somehow ended up in the same place as the Chief (maybe due to some applied phlebotinum slipspace screw ups always end up in that spot) and half-way through the game you team up with him in a multi-way guerrilla war against the remains of the surviving covies and what ever new threats there are.

I really wouldn't be too concerned about the story. I'd be more worried about Microsoft Games Studios making a decent game. They don't have any sort of legacy with this sort of thing. While they do already have the reach engine and assets, they are missing in the creative design department.

Microsoft game studios =\= 343 industries rusty. 343 is a division within Microsoft game studios but has sole responsibility over all that is halo. So I trust them.

As far as personnel is concerned, 343 is filled with ex halo CE and Halo 2 employees as well as they went on a hiring spree half a year ago. That's when rumors of halo 4 first started because 343 was hiring a lot of creative talent and programmers.

By the way, great way to get an early impression of what a developer is working on by who they hire and what names they trademark and register.
