If it had Halo CE multiplayer it would be a must buy for me, even at $60 instead of 40. Now its a maybe. You can tweak Reach's engine to make it a bit similar, but you can't change the weapons and bullets flipping warthogs.
A little tidbit that we should all be excited about: In a blog post by Certain Affinity, it was mentioned that the new CE-to-Reach maps would get "a little more forge love." IMO, if they're going to the trouble to mention it this early on, Forge will get a big part in these new maps. You can see what I'm talking about 5 paragraphs from the bottom of this page: http://crimsonalliance.com/game_feature.php?story_id=63 It might not be much, but it's never too early to get our hopes up
Probably jumping far ahead and most likely wrong but my theory is that Beaver Creek and a few of the other maps that have much the same scenery to them could be all in together in a new forgeworld. But like I said, I'm probably wrong it's just a favorite theory of mine. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Did you miss the part where they said the firefight maps would look like the belonged in areas of the campaign? I'm thinking the big tower, assault on the control room sort of thing. That or in one of the inside areas on the way there when you had the tank. Opening those big doors and then had to get across a bridge that was over a large gap. Think it was part of the same level.
So I was playing CE today, and I got towards the end of Two Betrayals. The area with the water and the green and purple cliffs all around you. I then got on a covenant ship. when going to the ship to get on it, it looks just like the thing chief is approaching in the Halo 4 trailer.
Two Betrayals doesn't have a covenant ship... or any water. Just ice. Do you mean Keyes? And do you mean a gravity lift?
I have an idea for a firefight map. The very beginning of the last level, where you're fighting Covenant in what's left of the PoA (specifically the part where you fight through the cafeteria). Or maybe even the Library...
I really, really doubt that's what they're doing. I suspect it's just going to be that more of the maps have a real palette of structure objects, a la Tempest, rather than the extremely limited palette on most of the default Reach maps that aren't Forge World.
@ Anyone that didn't listen to the E3 interview. They said its the SAME EXACT old Halo CE engine. The only thing they are adding is an extra option that makes it have better graphics. You may switch from bad graphics to good graphics anytime you like. Even with the good graphics, the physics are the same old as the Halo CE one. Like TSB said, they are keeping everything. Everything. They said it will come with the Halo Reach multiplayer disc. Simmilar to what Bungie pulled off with Halo 3: ODST. I might even sell my Reach disc for Halo CEA. Think about it. Halo Reach with a different campaign that is better then Reach's, all dlc map packs including the original 7 maps from Halo CEA, and with the release price of $40. Plus, anyone thinking about Halo 4 beta in this? Hmmm?
The part in italics is not known for certain, unless they've said something about it in the last day or so and I missed it. It's pure speculation if the multiplayer will include any of the previous DLC or not. Actually I don't even think they've said if it will really be a separate disc like ODSC had or what, but I think most of us are assuming it will be, since that was done before and the general idea makes more sense than any other approach I can think of.
So...there's this. Bungie.net : Bungie Universe : The Scoop on Halo 4 - New Information Apparently leaked info on Halo 4 that was supposed to be sort of announced and showcased at a later event. Really just a rundown of the whole story line.
Yeah same, also being that any Halo leak has been relatively true and believable. But it also implies, in the last paragraph, that the flood are returning. I though the gravemind had perished with the rest of the flood on the ark, but apparently not. I hope they fit this in clean, rather than not just making it like they have no originality and it was just needed to return an old foe to the chief.
Indeed. If what that thread says is true though, it could well be amazing. Also, Rocket Launcher/Needler? Wut?
I don't know. I never saw Keyes pop up on the bottom. It's right after all the snow and ****. This is my first run through the second half of the campaign. I never got all the way through for some reason. It's right before you are actually ON the ship, and right after the shutting down of the 3rd thingy.
The thing in the H4 trailer is clearly Forerunner, not covenant. The covenant ship/grav-lift was purple, not grey like the planet in the trailer.
/sigh The gravemind did not control all flood. He was one "brain" form like Keyes turned into in Halo CE. He is the brain form that first convinced Mendicant Bias to betray the Forunners but is not the sole leader of the flood. When the gravemind and High Charity blew up it took out a lot of flood that had escaped the original Halo ring 04 but the Forunners were at war with the flood all over the galaxy and stored them all over the place for study. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to bring them back. I still don't think they will, but canon wise it could happen.
