what is the total number of "KOTH-HILL" I can have? I know in territories there is a maximum amount you can have. i think it's 4 or 5. But in King Of The Hill, what is the maximum amount of hills allowed?
I don't believe there is a limit, just keep in mind that having too many means some may not be cycled through due to the time limit.
some hills seem to not be active. i watched 4 hills cycle randomly (for which i set to do so) but the 5th and 6th hill i have placed did not cycle. maybe i need to do a few more test games to see if they eventually cycle through. although i think i had enough time for them all to cycle through. 12 minutes with 45 second switches...
I think one of my maps uses 5 hills, and I don't recall having any problems. However, I was playing Crazy King, and I'm not sure if there is a difference for regular KOTH.
One of my maps (Subterfuge) has around 8 hills from what I remember, and all of them get cycled during Crazy King. I havent tried using more hills than that, but I dont think its entirely unlikely that you can use more.
Crazy King cycles the hills randomly, so it's entirely possible that your particular hill just didn't get picked. It's like flipping a coin and getting 10 heads in a row - unlikely, but still possible. If you weren't in Crazy King and there was supposed to be a set sequence, then I would suggest looking at the spawn sequence settings on the hills. Don't quote me on this, but I think they need to be numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. for the sequence to work correctly. If you forgot one and left the spawn sequence set to 0, it might mess things up.
Technically, you can have 199.. as you can set spawn sequence from -99 to 99 including 0. However, I don't know how the negatives work with spawn sequencing so stick to 0-99. Also, not even sure if 0 is included when the gametype is set to sequence.. Finally.. KOTH gametypes are broken, you CANNOT sequence KOTH hills, unless you have the patched gametype version which is floating around on b.net somewhere. I don't have a link for it though
all hills are numbered and the gametype is set to randomly select a hill so maybe the hill never got picked. i have yet to go back and test though [br][/br]Edited by merge: thats interesting. i'll set the first hill to 1. its currently a 0
KOTH works fine enough on my maps, though I've used a maximum of 5 so far and the only sequencing I've done is setting the first hill by having the others spawn a little after the start. Random sequencing works fine though.
I don't even worry about sequencing for the very reason mentioned above; I can't assume that others will use the improved gametype on the map, so unless it's vital to your particular game, I wouldn't worry about the order for too long.
new question: i save multiple multiple versions of maps for one reason. i hate when, for whatever magical reason, a map file disappears into the ether realm when i go to choose my map, lets call it HALO, the title is correct, it says HALO, when i press X to look at the map info page the title name is not HALO, it's, lets call it, GAYLO, and when i select HALO, GAYLO loads up. what the **** is this ****? it's happened before and it pisses me off.
