MLG Camp Out

    CAMP OUT

    Description:
    This map is my first legitimate map, that I actually put a lot of time and thought into it. It is a small, symmetrical, fast paste map and environment. It was made primarily for Slayer/ Team Slayer, but is capable of CTF as well. Two Hidden Easter Eggs on the map... 1) below your feet, you'll be shown this one right off the start... 2) and the other can be seen from a beautiful view out the window... let me know when u spot them...

    Very nice map. I'm always a fan of curved bridges and those tunnel pieces. The map looks clean and well forged. The only thing that I can say is that I'm not sure if the sniper spawn fits with the rest of the map. The sandbags seem a bit misplaced there but it could just be me... Anyways, I like what you've done here and I like how you mounted it on the pinnacle rock. I'm a bit saddened that more people don't used it.

    Could you possibly post a weapons list? It would help people get a better feel for your map before downloading.

    the thumbnail image captured my attention right off the bat. the map itself is decent.

    the bridge is neat. but using it would be a major problem. through all the crossfire, it could get a little hectic and i would avoid using it whenever i can. but it helps with the asthetics.

    The thing about that is, the nade launcher is up top there, and that is a very good weapon when used right... so what im saying is to get to the good weapon, it can be done, but itll be little challenging with all the cross fire...

    In case this constructive criticism discourages you, I'll let you know you have tons of potential, since you have a decent idea of design.

    For your first map, the layout is excellent. Many problems arise though. Regarding the middle, the design of the middle is awesome. The routes, the bridges, the ramps, it's good. But it is way too small. I honestly felt like I was some kind of giant walking in there. The tunnel, shorts in the curved fashion look nice though.

    But another thing, the inside looks extremely vulnerable to screenlag (Frames-per-second rate dropping = makes the game play slower). It is mostly because you have a bunch of smaller objects making one structure, but it is also the lights the game has to render.

    You have tons of objects with lights built in them (lights are extremely hard to render):

    -5x1 block, short (you have 5 or 6 at the bottom)
    -2x2 Corner (These can probably stay)
    -All kinds of Railings (which you have alot by each other)
    -possibly more, but I don't remember.

    It is important to avoid these objects so the game will play smoother, but I don't mean 100% avoid them. If they are decent fitting pieces, go ahead and use them. Just don't abuse them.

    k now for the outside, There just has to be more to it. I'd say this map can play 2v2 at the most, but you should add more to it to allow it to play 4v4. Try to have the bases structured so people aren't motivated to only camp in the middle (but not just in the bases either), despite the name being campout.

    Also on the map, I want to say, never, ever, make dead ends The only exception I have seen is when there are rockets or camo placed over there. They do nothing but trap you or allow you to camp at dead ends that are powerful.

    MLG maps benefit the most to completely eliminate camping and to have at least 3 routes to any power position / base (2-way hallways are sometimes acceptable though). This is the concept of Flow/Connectivity (movement options).

    So in summary, the main things I'd like to see in this map is a larger scaled middle (IMO bridges or ramps or walkways should be at least 2 units wide, the inside is flatout cramped), actual outside areas (rather than just walkways; the map would be a tri-atrium map, so make every atrium functional and able to flow, and lastly, reconsider your object choice.

    I was pretty intrigued when I first stepped foot onto this map, escpecially when seeing the camp setting though the glass bunker. The inside of the map is low-scaled, and the map itself is really tiny. It will probably take a re-forge, but the map has a great chance to improve (in fact 100% when rescaling the middle).

    Map looks really good, loving those 1 x 1 bridges and the camp area. I don't think the spartan laser is an mlg weapon but I'm not 100% sure so if I'm wrong my bad. Overall some really nice ideas mixed with some aesthetics. Good job.

    Don't worry you're correct.

    In addition to the spartan laser, the shotgun and the assault rifle aren't allowed. I didn't pay attention to the weapon set while giving feedback, so i managed not to catch this. :p
