    Description

Breakwater is a medium sized, symmetrical, 3v3 map. This map is located by the water and has a natural, shore-like feel. Aesthetics were defiantly in mind while I made this map, but I mainly focused on its gameplay. The map has a generally simple layout, but I tried to put as much detail in the map as I could. This map has different lines of sight. Short range inside the building, medium range on the ends and sides of the map, and long range down the middle. I hope that this satisfies everyone’s liking, and I hope you guys like the map.

There are two power weapons on the map, a sniper and a rocket launcher. DMRs are located all throughout the map. There is also a dropshield in the middle of the map. This map supports over 4 gametypes, but this map is best for slayer and CTF. The gameplay is spread out though the map; there is not a particular place of high traffic. For CTF, there is a direct route through the middle, but it is also the most open. So it is very balanced in my opinion, hope you agree. The pictures can give you a better feel for the map, so enjoy!

    Special Thanks

I owe a great thanks to all who helped me with this map. A great thanks to EightBall who helped with some aesthetics and spawning. ArcticHunter, for some weapon placements. He also gave me a moral boost when I thought I couldn’t finish the map. Also, thanks to all who tested the map and gave me great feedback. I could not have made some crucial changes without them. Thanks again to all that helped!

Yeaaaah, breakwater is insane. The aesthetics are outstanding and the gameplay was really enjoyable. I especially loved that clock you made, it really add such a nice aesthetic touch. I'm glad I could be a part of this beautiful map. The use of water and stairs on this map was so aesthetically pleasing as well. I love it when people incorporate water into their maps.

With all of the tests we had on this, I'm positive that spawning was done well. Weapon choice was great too. Great work my friend.

man, you are on a posting spree!!! lol. anyway, it looks good, and really resembles hardshore ( which i looked at 5 minutes ago). great job, i would give a 9/10 on just design, although i'm not sure on gameplay. a couple of the paths look sorta open, in my opinion. an example would be the 2nd to last pic. it looks a little open towards the bottom of the pic. yeah, if you have money and pieces left, you could make something like a crashed boat there, not 100% for aesthetic use, but for a cool looking kind of cover, if you see what i'm getting at. so yeah, i think it could use a little more cover, but it looks great. =)

Wow bro I gotta give you this, it looks absolutlely awesome. Nice job incorparating the water. The clock looks cool. I also like that you choose to have drop shield instead of something like evade or jetpack. Its unique. I was a bit confused though, because I read the special thanks AFTER I looked at the images. I was looking through it and thought you had copied Eightball's little original aesthetic style. No but anyway I love the map. Ill DL.

Exceptional job with this. The aesthetics are breathtaking, and the way cover is placed really allows players to move in and out of combat with ease, signifigantly affecting the flow around the terminal points of the map. Because of this, lines of sight are varying traits here, and I'd be honest in saying that this is one of the better water-themed maps I've seen in my day. Congratulations, you've crafted quite a functionable piece of art, hope ya get a cookie, and such things of the like.

Wow this looks like a really sweet map. I'm loving the clock and all the stairs. Not to mention the overall layout and feel of the map. The weapon setup seems to work but some of the spawn times are a bit strange. Not a huge deal though. Also, is there a kill barrier over top or are you allowed to just jetpack up there? Well I guess I'll dl and check it out. Overall good stuff.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!

Anyway this map looks really nice. The design looks well thought out and the aesthetics are really good. The stairs go very well with the map but do they cause you to bump when you walk on them? I hat it when stairs do that.

Actually, JGarb here uses a very unique way of stair-building in which no matter how bumpy they look, they always run as smooth as a ramp.

Got a chance to play on this yesterday and overall it was a very fun and well made map. The feel of the map and all the little aesthetic touches such as the clock and the observatory binocular things come together and really make the map look nice and unique. The spawning system and flow of the map worked very well and not once did I spawn on an opponent. Additionally, the weapon placement and their respective spawn times felt like they worked very well. My only complaint is that a few of the stair cases were a little bumpy and could probably be smoothed out a bit but it wasn't a huge deal nor did it effect gameplay much if at all. Overall though this is a really beautiful map matched by some great gameplay.

When you showed me this map before it was amazing and it still is, i love the blue laser affect between the pillars mixed with the Watery nature feel that is included in almost all of the maps of yours ive played. i love the look of the clock aswell and this is getting a download from me for sure.

Thanks Govier, Thanks for the help and Im glad you like the map!

    Thank you Tom.

Yes, I am glad that you liked the map. I took as much time on the gun placements and respawns, to make them as good as possible. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for clearing this up to everyone. I have a method of using certain pieces to make it look like stairs, but do not have the bumps of stairs. This will improve gameplay flow, and also aethetics.

You mean the method everyone uses? Invisible barriers for the win.

Anyways. Map LOOKS great. I'd like to get a game on it to see how it plays. Any framerate issues?

I think I may have played this map in a custom with you and Eightball. Though it may have been a different map. If it was indeed that map, then it played very well. If it wasn't, then I'll definitely have to get a game on this soon.

What was the map that you made in the Quarry, anyways? We had a CTF match on it.

Haha yeah, thats what i meant. :p
Yes, aesthetics are good, but gameplay is at its best(in my opinion and others) There is no current framerate. At first, i had some looking down range, but i moved/deleted objects and the framerate lag was gone. Thanks for the comment Rho!
