Myst Island V2 (Flythrough/Gameplay Video Added)

"I realized the moment I fell into the fissure, that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse, of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, and I must admit however, such conjecture is futile. Still, questions about whose hands might one day hold my Myst book are unsettling to me. I know my apprehensions might never be allayed... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written." - Atrus

"I'm not gonna lie, you just overloaded and broke my nostalgia meter..." - Agent Peeps

"I don't think I can say anything about the map because I don't know how to explain all of the aesthetics and great minority forging put into this map. The originality is a 10 because I haven't seen, or heard of anything like this at all in my time as a forger. The similarities between the screenshots and the MYST cover are very clear... I really love everything about this map and forging all-around it. It's just a great combination between the two and it worked out for you really well. Awesome job on the forging!" - BeheId

"OH HELL NO! This game was by far the BEST puzzle game EVER... This is a blast from the past i will Download NOW!" - Wwolf655

    Myst Island Trailer

The Video contains an 'HD' Intro from the first game, Players can enjoy the nostalgia or learn a little more about the game this map is based on.

If you've played the original game and download this map, please leave me a comment letting me know what you think!

For those of you who are perhaps a little too young to remember when games were pre-rendered stills...
Myst puts the player in the role of the Stranger, who uses a special book to travel to the island of Myst. There, the player uses other special books written by an artisan and explorer named Atrus to travel to several worlds known as "Ages". Clues found in each of these Ages help reveal the back-story of the game's characters. The game has several endings, depending on the course of action the player takes.

Upon release, Myst was a surprise hit, with critics lauding the ability of the game to immerse players in the fictional world. The game was the best-selling PC game of all time, until The Sims exceeded its sales in 2002.

I have reconstructed the Island for Big Team Battle. Every building can be entered and everything is there. We all remember the library, pirate ship, rocket ship, cabin, Hologram Room and clocktower. But as an added bonus the fireplace in the library will take you to Atrus' study on D'Ni.

Out in the harbor, there is a two level ship that contains a DMR on the top and a Shotgun on the bottom. Across from the Ship is a small hologram room that has another DMR. Up the stair you will find the Observatory that provides some interesting circular two level combat. The gears are also located here that has a path that leads to the top of the Island and the Rocket Ship.

The Rocket Ship has the Grenade Launcher placed next to it. The middle of the map has the Library, that has two teleports. One leads to the top of the mountain and the Sniper Rifle. The other leads to Atrus' study that has the Rocket launcher. The Study's exit teleporter leads back to the dock area.

Next to the Library is the Cabin that has the 'Boiler.' In front of the Library is the well and columns that lead down to the Clock Tower that has the sword contained inside.

This map has a lot of detail to it, and while it is a remake of a puzzle game, the buildings provide great cover and has translated into an excellent slayer experience.

The Dimensions aren't perfect and I wish I could put more detail. But even with the limitations of forge world you get a great mix of nostalgia and a great slayer map. So those of you who haven't played the game can still fully enjoy the map.

    Weapon List:
    2 Assault Rifles
    4 DMRs
    1 Grenade Launcher
    2 Magnums
    1 Rocket Launcher
    1 Shotgun
    1 Sniper Rifle
    1 Energy Sword
    1 Needler Rifle
    2 Needlers
    2 Plasma Pistols

Red spawns exactly where the player did in the original game, on the dock. The blue team spawns on the beach.

This looks great man, I love the fact that you decided to do a remake and it looks great. The aesthetics are good and it looks more like a BTB map in my opinion. I don't know how gameplay would go, but I'm guessing it would be pretty good. One thing I don't really like is that sniper tower in the rock, it seems like it would be to easy to take out the sniper up there and how would you get down from there safely?

Overall, I can see a lot of creativity in this map that's for sure. Keep it up..

It's actually not hard to get down from the sniper's nest. Jumping right out the side or front leads down to the walkway leading to the rocket ship. The sniper's nest has good balance because it gets a great view of the map but is open for attack.

    Thanks for the comment!

Wow... I remember playing this game with my brother when I was like 13. What a great idea for a slayer map, absolutely brillant! The detail I see in the pictures shows what a fan of the game you are. I cant wait to explore Myst once again!

Thanks guys, while this map will mean a lot more to the fans of the old game (and its great to hear you guys love it) I think Myst is timeless and everyone will appreciate it even if its brand new to them. (I'm working on a gameplay Video to give people a good idea of what Myst is)

    Thanks again guys!

Yes. Thank you. I loved myst, but never had the idea to forge it...I DLed it, I will explore it sometime in the next week, hopefully get a game on it and get back to you! Although I'm not sure how well this will work competitively, some of the places look very camp-able, but after all it isn't meant to be a FPS map, it was for a puzzle game. I could be wrong, I'm only assuming, a game here will have to decide. Either way, great map.

My friends and I play this map all the time now and only two of us actually played the original game. Everyone loves it even those who know nothing about Myst so I feel confident in saying that even though the layout is meant for a puzzle game it translates into an excellent slayer map. The combination of all the unique buildings allows for a very interesting slayer map.

Thanks for the comment! And let me know how your own games go:)

Though the map itself is perfect and perfected it does seem like the initial game play might be not the greatest but thats only because the actual game itself want built to be a war zone lol. None the less this is a whole new way to persevere the game and would very interesting to play! Good job! :)

While I'll be the first to admit the layout isn't specifically meant for slayer I believe it still proves to be an enjoyable slayer map. My friends and I have been playing the map for a few weeks now and only two of us actually played the original game. I think it just goes to show how universal and unique the Myst design is. Its certainly not getting into community BTB but that was never the point. The map presents a very unique game and has been very successful so far.

Thanks for the comment and I hope you continue to enjoy the map!

Thanks! There is so much in the Myst games that could inspire new maps. Myst Island is as close as I could get to the original game, but I've been using screens from all the Myst games to inspire structures and overall concepts. I hope you enjoy the map and encourage you to draw some inspiration from the game as well!

I'm so glad to see this still on the front page. Such an amazing Idea! I played a little on it the other day with my friend and it played good, not great but good enough with the material you were working with. I feel like the steps could be a bit smoother to the library but thats a minor thing. I noticed you added a trailer, I love the way you used the original Myst opening for it, the space clip was also nicely used.
