Exactly. Osama's plan was NOT to just blow the **** out of America with nukes and planes. He wanted to bankrupt us from the inside by spreading us out in more wars than ever before. Think of all those countries we sent troops to. Really, he has not failed, we're in a ****ing recession. And the worst part was, he PLANED to die. He's got people at the ready to take over for him. I'm ****ing glad he's dead, but not because I think we've won, but because I hate him so much. All morals aside, the man was a genius.
...I don't know about all that. We're actually out of the recession and have been for a months. Bankrupting us is also a lot more complicated than being in wars...usually being in wars makes money. WWII brought us out of the Depression.
It stimulates economy for a country that is out of work, by putting its soldiers to work. It really doesnt make any money, it improves the public function of our system and in turn the country grows stronger with the economy. That no longer happens because you no longer need to employ thousands of people to make you ammunition; machines do it. These wars really are just drains on money.
I know. We're totally not better off than 99% of the rest of the world. Also, Pac, bear in mind the W-curve theory. Just because it looks like we're coming out doesn't necessarily mean we will just yet.
And you all latched on to the metaphor and not the point /facepalm. Point was our economy is much more complicated than war costs. So Bin Laden certaintly didn't bankrupt us or plan our slow economic downturn.
I do not believe that Osama was some mastermind of chaos and disorder. He was just a pawn in a religious war.
He was trained by the CIA during the Cold War to fight the Russians. He was a trained insurgent in guerrilla warfare, which expounded is essentially terrorism. I don't think it's outside the realm of belief that he orchestrated terrorist attacks. I do think he had help from people in the Saudi Royal family though.
Your probably still arming him, at least by proxy. It's the nature of the middle-east. And Rusty, i mean to say i do not think he is any way a major blow in terms of the fight against the Taliban. He's a celebrity terrorist.
You are aware that his family owns the largest construction company in Saudi Arabia, and they, in turn, are one of the richest in Saudi Arabia, with hundreds of millions if not billions under their belts, hm?
actually we arent in a recession, the unemployment rate has gone down ever-so-slightly, our economy is still pretty bad
So that muslim radicals couldn't know where to put a shrine. And considering how Obama is acting like a superhero about it it's so some mad scientist can't bring him back to life for the purposes of evil. Of course this just gives in all the more chance for him to fuse with some radioactive sea creature from Japan and get super powers, which is probably worse, so Obama may have screwed us all with that idea.
This is serious subject matter and I'm assuming some members would rather not have it joked about. Quit making stupid jokes, if you don't have a worthwhile comment about whats happening then get out. tl:dr version This thread either continues on with serious discussion or it gets locked.
Sorry In all seriousness I'm not sure how this will end up. On one hand we got the guy whose responsible for the deaths of thousands, but on the other it took 10 years. I know people have pointed that out already and made fun of us for it, but then again it was because Pakistan was with holding information. And with them burying him at sea there are bound to be people who will think the whole thing is fake as there's no body, and who are too stupid to realize that the real Osama would call the US out ASAP in this situation. I think this whole thing is going to end up on conspiracy theory forums for years to come. I wonder how this will be connected to the moon landing. I know at the very least my non US relatives are going to give me crap for being happy about him being killed, even though I'm not really sure I am. I mean I don't mind he's dead, I just wish he could have stood trial as an example. I suppose that would have just made the extremists angry so they want to attack more. THAT could be good as well because they may attack without thinking things through. There are just so many variables with this whole situation.
