Took me 10 hours in total, I wanted to take my time.

    My new catchphrase:
    I'm in space.

I'm waiting for my friend to get home so that we can start the Co-Op.

This game is nothing short of amazing. It was a perfect sequel to Portal in every way possible. The Humor, The Story, The Graphics, and finally, The Puzzles. The achievement descriptions (after you earn them) basically describe the humor perfectly. They are amazing. Simple and hilarious. The story was great. I won't get into details, but it carried you on an awesome adventure through Aperture. Also the way it ended was just flawless. I don't think it could've gone any better. (Excluding the turrets at the very end... Those scared me...) The Graphics were basically the same, just a bit better looking... Still, it felt like Portal and nothing else. And finally, The Puzzles... They made me rage so many times. They were clever and always had a simple solution, yet it was always hard for me to find said solution. The gel tests were my least favorite by far. They were so annoying.

Anyways, Portal 2 was the perfect Sequel...

tl;dr: If you don't own it already, go get it now. It's definitely worth it.

Yeah. I felt like ^ that.

Any how, as of 4 o clock this morning I've officially beaten the game both single player and co-op, total playtime of 14 hrs. Have to say, co-op is the way to play. The whole game focuses on absolute team work and we had hella lol'z the whole way through.

    Buy this game.

The gel tests were some of my favorite ones. Really awesome mechanics used in interesting ways.

The boss fight was reminiscent of Portal 1, which I actually liked. When the ceiling broke off and I saw the moon, it was one of the most perfect moments in a game, imo. Immediately my mind flashed back to the first white gel puzzle when Cave Johnson spoke about it being made from lunar rocks, and it was basically an epiphany. One of the only times I can ever remember in a game where I literally said "No way" to myself. Also, definitely the funniest game I've ever played. They had typical humor that anyone could get, but some jokes were extremely snide, clever, and subtle.

Don't know exactly when I'll do it, but I can't wait to go back and go through the developer commentary.

I know, right? That was a brilliantly embedded clue for the final moment of the game. I think they could have really cashed in on it if the moon were smaller and a bit less obvious through the hole in the roof, but it would probably have gone right past most people's heads.

I just finished single player. I was proud of myself for not getting too hung up on any one puzzle, although they really were all gratifyingly challenging to complete. It definitely helped that I had played through Portal 1 enough times to memorize it, though.

I don't know if it's nostalgia or if she's just a better-written character, but my favorite section of the game is when Glados is leading you through her testchambers. The other guys just don't pull it off quite the same.

I'm working through multiplayer but my teammate and I have limited overlap in our schedules. We'll be done in another night or two.

I really love all the new puzzle elements, particularly the excursion funnel. I really am thirsty for more, thought. I almost feel like the only real quality time you get with any one device is during the orientation for it. I'd like to see some add-on levels similar to Still Alive.

A test chamber editor mode would be perfect. I think we could do a lot with even a simple grid-based level-builder.

    My verdict: brilliant.

Easily one of my favorite moments in gaming. Staring up at that hole in the ceiling and for a split second thinking "whut am I looking at" and then suddenly going "Are you serious?!?!?!?" Then finally seeing that tiny blue spark and going "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES" And then laughing my ass off at how perfectly orchestrated that was through 'til GLaDOS pulls you back through the portal.

I also loved how starting from "The Fall" you get to walk through the ruins of old aperture. It was so cool to watch the laboratories evolve into their current states and experience the changes through time... And having GLaDOS as a potato stuck on the end of my gun was pree awesome, too.

There are just a billion hilarious moments in this game... Like when GLaDOS says the Paradox to Wheatley and he just replies with "false..." It was just amazing.

duuuuude the shooting the moon part was pure madness. its easily up there with my favorite moments in video games, it might be my favorite ever. The way they played it was perfect, i reacted the same way you did. I then proceeded to feel really accomplished and depressed the whole way up the elevator, then laughed my ass off again when the door spit out the companion cube. Then that after credits scene, rofl.

and i agree, old aperture was epic, i loved it, if you couldnt tell. hah. A few reviews i read said the game slowed down there, but i heavily disagree. I came when i saw the 70s aperture logo.

The new credits song is potentially better than Still Alive, anybody else agree? i think i might just be fanboying. lol.

I like the tune of this new one a lot more, but the lyrics of the original were better.

I'll pay whatever for more co-op challenges or any DLC that gives me more Portal, the ones they have already are soooo awesome. I was up last night playing them drunk with my cousin, lol. I also want to see advanced chambers, like in Still Alive, i played the **** out of those impossible motherfuckers. I refuse to be done with this game.

yeah that sounds about right, and the original has that charm of being the original. The new one feels more condescending to me as well.

dont forget about the turret opera >.< apparently it's all in italian and explains a bit of the whole story of everything when translated which i thought was cool. It's now my ringtone, hah.

If you are on the fence about getting it then I would definitely push you off and recommend that you do. Its the most entertaining game I have played for a very long time.

Seriously, shooting the Moon? That was awesome. And I just realised that Cave actually announces that Moon dust is a good material for conducting portals (or something). When the roof broke, I just thought they were just showing how close you got to getting out but now you're just going to die! That was a great ending.

And I loved the turrets singing at the end.

"This is the part where he kills us"
"Hello! This is the part where I kill you!"
Chapter 9: The Part Where He Kills You.
Achievement unlock, the part where he kills you.
    This is that part

That might have been slightly ruined by someone saying something inappropriate outside of spoiler tags my own childish inability to resist opening spoiler tags early in this tread, as well as reading the achievement description for beating the game. But it was still an incredible moment.

I'd like to congratulate Chell for hitting the Apollo landing site. Way to beat the odds!!

Hell yes. It reminded me of Bioshock a bit and the atmosphere was very well done. The old plywood testchambers that had antique, functional versions of all the futuristic testchamber fixtures still in use by Glados was a great touch.

I think some of it did slow down the game, particularly the parts where your only real goal is to search a vast expanse for a hard-to-see place to shoot a portal, a task which seemed to repeat itself too many times.

Hell no. Still Alive is liquid perfection.

Easily my second favorite part of the game. Only the ending was better than that.

    I lol'd so hard at:

-GLaDOS EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN AND CAKE DISPENSARY / KEEP UNLOCKED-

    *opens fake door*

GLaDOS: I honestly, truly didn't think you'd fall for that. In fact I devised a much more elaborate trap further ahead for when you got through this easy one. Had I known you'd have allowed yourself to get trapped this easily, I'd have just dangled a turkey leg from the ceiling.

What do you guys think of the closing credits song? I think Still Alive was much better. It was catchier and just...so clever. This new song just sounds too lyrical with slight autotunes on it.

The real song in Portal 2 for me was the turret opera.

Turret Opera > Still Alive and Want You Gone

The ingame graphics are so much better than the cut-scenes. Why they even used them.. I don't know.

I don't know about better...Valve's cutscenes are usually rendered using the in-game engine instead of any CG work. Because the cutscenes are scripted and do not need to render unnecessary objects, they are able to put a lot more on screen so that is why the cutscenes usually depict massive rooms.

I agree. Although I wouldn't go so far as to go full on level editor. Something like forge where you get a giant white room and can change tiles and add assets as you please. Forge is a friendlier to newcomers than a full blown level editor is.

Also, a couple of my friends and I introduced Portal 2 to a couple of our other friends. It was their first experience ever with the game. It was pretty cool to watch how they played, especially since one of them hardly ever plays a console game, specifically shooters.

As they went through a couple of the early test chambers there came a moment when they linked their portals so that they remained in free fall. They also explored a little bit more about momentum and portals as well. They seriously didn't bother with the test for a good 20 minutes, they were having so much fun with the portals and laughing.

Later tests you have to use momentum, much like they discovered on their own. They didn't seem to enjoy solving the tests as much as goofing off, although they still thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I suspect that was in part due to being led to do that by the designers.

That's why I think one big test chamber filled with white walls would be the perfect fit for this game. Where you have ample room to play any way you like.
