Portal 2 Song Good Afternoon (while writing this) I have seen a complete playthrough of portal 2 and i must say, one of the best games ive ever seen! Im not going to post any spoilers in this thread but i am going to give you guys a link to the ending song which i believe fits the game perfectly and is a good match for 'Still alive' YouTube - Portal 2 Speedy Walkthrough - Chapter 10 (The Credits) Song (if anyone can get the video to work in the forum that would help alot)
I went to the midnight release for this with my friend. We played about three hours before going to bed and then finished it today. I got to try a little bit of the single player as well, which I enjoyed. The puzzles were pretty fun, although we did hit a few frustrating ones that came down to timing, patience, and a bit of luck. The loading times between levels gets old quickly. I wish they stuck with the elevators from Portal.
I agree the loading screens are a tad annoying but in their defense, they have to render a lot more objects than portal 1 did.
And the load times are usually pretty short, at least on the single player side. Haven't tried co-op yet.
Anyone notice the sound effect for the moving platforms is very very similar to the sound effect of the robot hunter killer from Half Life 2
They got rid of the elevators? Fail. Though if that's the worst thing about this game then I ain't gonna complain. Sounds like you guys blitzed it pretty hard. How long would you roughly say you guys took to complete it? And if possible a rough estimate of how good you are go gauge how long that'd equate to for me and my friend.
Haven't beat it yet, its a 10 hour or so single player. And there are still elevators, they just go into a loading screen half way through instead of an elevator ride the entire time. Again, the game is loading a lot more this time around.
I played it for maybe 4 or 5 hours and got to chapter 5. The game is extremely fun and loads are much faster than the first portal. The challenges are unique and pretty tough. It kinda pissed me of that I had to spend real money of virtual gestures. Valve just trying to scam some more money out of the gullible buyers. I noticed that too, and I think there might be strider noises. Why make new noises when you can just use old ones?
They weren't removed entirely. They are still there, but it cuts to a loading screen, where as in the first you simply rode the elevator. It may be that since everything has been spruced up quite a lot, the elevators were taking too long. I prefer the elevators though because even though you're waiting you still get to move around just a little bit, jump, and shoot the portal gun. Plus, you were never sure if you were going up or down, which I felt was great for the 'lab rat' atmosphere of the game. It probably took us around 5-6 hours? My friend has beaten Portal a couple of times and I've played about an hour of it, which is enough for me to get the hang of things. For the most part I played the role of problem solver, so with some exceptions we ended up getting through each puzzle without any headache. There are some challenging bits though, but I found it more of a challenge of having to 'hunt' for spots where you could shoot portals at and what-not. I didn't enjoy those puzzles as much because they didn't have as much depth to solving them as earlier ones and routinely the later puzzles became an endurance test of patience since difficulty comes from execution more so than problem solving. I actually didn't like the last puzzle at all. It took us about 30 minutes to get through because it was difficult to execute certain maneuvers and even though we ended up beating the puzzle I never felt like I solved the puzzle through any clever trickery. More like I just kept trying the same thing over and over again until it worked. It isn't a scam. You don't have to buy them. Personally, I don't see why you really need to buy anything at all. None of the extra content adds anything to the game, with one exception. I think it's cheap on the part of Valve selling character animations and cosmetic upgrades instead of offering them as rewards for playing the game in various ways. Like getting armor plating made out of a turret for knocking fifty of them over. There really isn't any need to get any of the content anyways sine about the only time you get to show it off is with a friend or some random guy you end up playing with. There isn't much incentive to get anything since you won't get to really show any of it off.
Appearently if you get the PS3 version you get the PC/Mac version for free, but I guess you can't play both version at the same time. So if you give your code away you won't be able to play with your bro. :/ ..by the way, just bought the game. :]
Just beat the game and was looking through all of the achievements. Some are pretty silly. The song is awesome, for some reason I was tearing up, I don't know why.\ Also Spoiler Portals on the moon and that core that kept saying "I'm in space" was funny.
Not online is what he means. In other news I beat the SP last night Spoiler I'm in space! space space space
