Velocity Toss Velocity Toss is a little game I've been working on that uses the HaloBall variant. Two teams of four duke it out for five minutes to see who can score the most points. Sounds like a typical HaloBall variant, right? Wrong. In Velocity Toss the golf ball doesn't even come into play. Each team member has a grenade launcher, and their goal is to shoot a grenade into the opposing team's goal. The hole is fairly small so ya can't just shoot it from half-court. You gotta get in close to be successful. You might be wondering how defense works. Well since you can't kill easily with the nade launchers, beat downs are the only way of taking your opponent out. A beatdown to the other player kills them instantly. Screenshots Ivory Court Goal A nice roof Stuff: -Unlimited armor lock -120% speed -Unlimited ammo -Only beatdowns kill
Hockey all over again. Please, don't allow people to kill each other. Also, I think adding ramps to the sides of the map will prevent the ball from being 'stuck' on the sides (especially the corners) like in Hockey all the time. This way people will be more scattered around the map.
The golfball doesnt come into play at all. So... Its more like grifball and haloball combined with its own twist.
It sounds like a great game idea, but you are going to get a ton of double beat downs all over the map, which will definitly distract from gameplay. I would love to help you tweak it sometime, good luck!!
Did you even read his post? There is no ball, you must shoot a grenade into the goal using 'nade launchers. No kills would make it really easy to score.
Well ive tried to put some form of a counter to the beat downs, which is armor lock; someone goes for te beatdown, lunge, but you go into armor lock.
Does the grenade count as the scoring object? If so, that might be genius! A lot of people seem to be confused about it and I just assumed that the grenade was because the size of the goal.
hey cartograph i had an idea for a similar map earlier, and i was wondering if you would like to help me forge it and try to implement it my idea was to have two sticky grenade spawns on the equator of the 'court' with minimum value set to 2. Each team has gravity hammers like grifball, but the grenades that spawn are also hills, which are the 'goals' in haloball then there is a basket type object with a backboard and a hoop so the sticky grenades hit the backboard and then must fall into the hoop if u want to help me forge it, i would be glad to have you i would also love to help you test this map if you need testers tho
While I try to think of an idea for defense... making a suggestion BUT it's not all to serious, I just think it'd add a bit more fun. What if you had a drop shield spawn every 2 minutes or so so the team who got to it fast enough and back to their goal could have a temporary long distance goalie of some sort? I don't know. haha I think it'd be kind of cool. So none of those lucky shotters can make a somewhat pray and spray shot.
Looks like this could be really fun. My only concern would be that a sufficiently anal retentive type could find a spot to aim at and fire a cross-map grenade that scored every time. Can you think of any way to integrate some kind of defense or shot-blocking mechanism?
I assume this is a facet of the custom game type, not just someone who doesn't know how to aim a grenade launcher.
Well you can't score from more than half court do to the arch on the launcher shots, and since they have to get on your side, you can play defense by beatdowns. And @Pinohkio, It takes five DIRECT hit with the GL to kill, and that is right after another. Beatdown damage is at 300%, which kills instantly.
hmmm...I honestly never noticed the ceiling when we played. It looks really nice from the pictures. It's neat and clean, but not super colorful. I think that's the point that was made about the aesthetics. Hows the testing going?
This concept is awesome. If you need people for testing hit me up. Looks like fun Rho your boat If you haven't already added me. I don't remember. Anyways, looks sick. Adios
