Deep within the womb of time, a creature thus be born
The seed of life is united with, the egg of tyranny
Gestates forth from within the womb of life, for three-quarter and nigh a year

    The creature thus be born!
    The creature thus be formed!
    And ye of years...
    [Your current age + bells]
    Will chime!

When the heavens open up, and drink from the silver cup
The creature thus be born! And blow the magic horn!
To alert the spirit deep within the cycle of life.
The creature has begun it's journey deep forlorn, upon this day which he be formed
In the sea of mucus the spirit rides down from the mountain
and unites with the creature in the womb
A holy union, dark mortality, until the dark mortality breaks the chain of life
The creature thus be born And every year raineth down the celebratory tears
A celebration of the years from mere mortal sky

I thought you'd bring that up. John Stewart was brought into the series instead of Hal Jordan so that they'd have more diversity with their lineup. In Green Lantern continuity, John Stewart is actually the 3rd human to become a Green Lantern. Hal Jordan being the original and Guy Gardener; the 2nd with Kyle Rayner being the 4th.

The relationship between Abin Sur and Hal Jordan then with Sinestro is a huge part of what makes so appealing and entertaining. John Stewart, to be honest, is pretty bland in comparison to the other characters in the Green Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan is the right choice, it's the logical choice.

Fair enough. I'm pretty sure he was one of the first black superheroes in comics too.

The same could be said for almost every ethnicity.
    Examples:
    White Trash and White
    Messican and Hispanic

Live in the Southwest and you could be familiar with it.

Its basically what most stereotypes about Mexican-Americans come from. Terrible work ethic, stubborn, etc.

I'm thinking 'Spics is a more common term. Never ever heard anyone say Messican.

Probably depends on region, my cousins are from the Midland/Odessa area and they use Messican, and I've never really heard 'spic in southwest fort worth (@shat, maybe you are too north of downtown)

green lantern really needs more exposure, because the old art style of it ruined it for me, the newer comics are just a bit blerh. and linu, i still cant find an omnibus of the blackest night!
