They did it with more than just those maps man. Just about every default map (multiplayer or firefight) is lifted from the campaign. Courtyard is the start of Oni: Sword Base with Sword Base being the interior of the building from the same mission.

Corvette is from Long night of Solace. The Room where you have to defend the pelican at the end, with the room that you enter into right at the start of that mission being Zealot.

In fact sitting here I can't think of one default map that ISN'T in the campaign somewhere.

Well, I knew most of them were from the Campaign, I just didn't feel like listing them all. I was just saying that if you're going to take a bunch of Firefight maps from the Campaign, at least take the best one of the bunch with it.

I assume Forge World must be the only one. Powerhouse is the only one in the Campaign that isn't exactly the same. And the only difference is the Purple FX, really.

Damn, someone already got that one.

    What... the... hell...

I saw the OP and was all "wait what, how am I getting credit for this." It didn't occur to me that I posted a thread on XF like 5 months ago about this...

    Funny.

You could argue that Forge World is on 04 (At least it's implied to be). In the cutscene at the end of the game, the Autumn is seen drifting towards 04; one might argue that FW is in the "campaign," at least indirectly.

The map weren't 'lifted' from the campaign, it is more like they were lifted from multi-player and placed into the campaign. As for Forge World...the ViDoc said they were trying to create a nostalgic feeling and put you on 04 or any ring for that matter.
And to 4shot, all the maps differ slightly. Sword Base in campaign has no Yellow Lift or Man Cannon, Reflection in campaign has some walls that aren't in MP, etc.

OT: I also agree this should have been a FF map (and I saw the similarity to Crater when I played on Legendary, my second Reach campaign run). Who didn't like Crater?

But in the end, the design is the same. Little things like walls and lifts don't make a huge difference. Sure, they aren't exactly the same, but they've got the same design and roughly similar layouts.

I agree with most of the maps, but the yellow lift in Sword Base is a huge difference for all those camping little...nevermind. But these maps were designed for multiplayer first and then basically transferred to campaign and modified to fit a linear path. I think Bungie killed two birds with one stone by putting them in by being able to create less of the campaign from scratch while giving players a sense of familiarity trasitioning from SP to MP or vice-versa. Reflection and Zealot in SP aren't really there to fill space so much, as both are very small portions of the level that could be shortened with little cost, so I think both reasons were factors in Bungie's decision to have maps in both SP and MP.

Funny how I was playing campaign yesterday and thought that Club Errara would make a great competitive map, even though I played Crater only once or twice as a buddies house and had only a vague memory of it. I ought to have a close replica (most likely with a few major/minor changes for gameplay) done in the next few weeks.
