UPDATE 3/28: Thanks to RPAL for the tip--the map AND gametype have been updated to spawn only mongeese for the drivers (instead of mongeese and warthogs). Updating both files is required for it to work! I present: Incoming!! The game is simple: Get in a warthog or mongoose and drive straight ahead, avoiding the incoming rockets from the one player in the rocket hog. Get to the end, and you can defeat the rocket hog player! You'll start at 1. Drive straight at the rocket hog guy--at the end of the platform is a vehicle teleporter that will send you to 2. Repeat to reach 3, and finally to reach the victory location (win!) What happens when you reach the victory location? You'll be safe behind shield walls and can exit your vehicle to press the red button! To see the red button in action, check out this rendered Bungie Pro vid: [bungievid]15807756[/bungievid]
Love this idea I would just recommend you add some cool aesthetics to the map so it looks cooler when you play! Great map!
Nice idea! Although I think hollow is right, it could use a few extra decorations. But lets get to my the point.... I loved the video. The way you said "...really, this is what sells the map ", it got me to the point where I said, okay lets see what this "red button" really does. And even though it was only 7 seconds, I laughed my ass off. Thats all I needed to convince me to download it. But dude, you really rocked that video lol. Anyway, you need this video in the thread. You got it rendered, all you need to do is embed it. Here's the code, just copy and paste it in the map description. Code: [noparse][bungievid]15807756[/bungievid][/noparse]
awesome!! did you get inspiration from straight ahead in halo 3 cause that map was really nice! i think you should remove the warthogs tho
I played a map in Halo 3 that had mongeese vs. a rocket launcher zombie, not sure the name of it. I mean, this concept isn't new. There may already be a map out there just like this one, I just haven't come across it yet. I HAVE to have warthogs to support 16 players, since you can only place 8 mongeese :\ ..they're BEHIND the spawn points, so any party size up to 9 should tend to use only mongeese, though. -- I appreciate you Forgehuber's love of aesthetics, but I specifically want to keep the sky uncluttered on this map--to help see incoming rockets and to give that nice view of the rocket hog exploding into the sky. There might be some opportunity to spruce up the platforms (and since I linked to a file set, I might), but it won't affect gameplay at all so I really don't see the need. -- p.s. Thanks for the tip, Darth Human. I updated the post.. didn't know Forgehub supported Bungie vids!
Its very similar to this map (it was never posted on Forgehub). The only real difference is you gave them vehicles instead of just cover to work their way up. I really liked the video, but I would've much rather seen a full round with your minute that included the end instead of 7 seconds. The reason I'm posting... Click the link in the quote. I am unsure if you can use this option in Infection, but changing the vehicle set to "Human Only" will change all ghosts to mongooses. So you would have 16 mongooses instead of only 8.
Holy crap I have to respond to this lol. Haha, It's cool someone thinks like me. Most of my maps are revamped ideas or just plain awesome logical ideas I find or just think of. And then later on, find out that someone already made a past or current map with similair properties. Then people go on about how the idea isn't yours, or something like that. This situation isnt the same but its somewhat relatable I guess. You can have 16 mongoose's. Luckily the map is already set up for this, so all you have to do is change your gametype options to get 16 mongoose's. Under weapons and vehicles, change the vehicle set to mongooses, and every vehicle on the map will convert to a mongoose. I know! I have all these awesome ideas that I could just pump out daily, but sadly no one really cares unless they see awesome pictures of aesthetics. This is highly relatable to my Speed map. People here don't like kill balls either lol. Whatever you do, dont use them! They're ugly! =D No problem, I didn't know that either until later on. Took me forever to find the right BB code for the vids.
I would've preferred that too, but I didn't have a party of friends on to make a proper demonstration video with . Thank you for mentioning this! I will definitely be looking into testing and incorporating that if it does work.
Yeah, its just easier to set that option to mongoose that way all vehicles are mongooses. You can also set it to warthogs and get all warthogs. Ive had this spoiler in a few posts on other maps explaining this... but this is an example of "converting" vehicles. Spoiler
I'll probably set the gametype on this map to convert all vehicles to mongeese since it's so easy, but I have another map that would benefit from the forced-human/convenant vehicle set (since it uses a variety of Covie vehicles, but no human vehicles). So double win! Thanks to both of you.
You cannot set the gametype to all vehicles being mongooses, because if you do your Rocket Hog will be a mongoose. Human Only is the setting your looking for. You then have to replace the hogs with ghosts.
Oh yeah.... forgot about that rocket hog. Then yes, you will have to add ghosts and convert them to mongooses.
Well! Thanks for saving me from THAT catastrophic fail! Dodging angry glares from the would-have-been rocket guy wouldn't be very challenging for the other players, especially since he is set to Gunner Only vehicle usage. He'd be stuck there with a mongoose he couldn't even drive..
Me and my friends are going to have a gang bang on custom games this weekend, and this is one i will defenitly force them to try....because its awesome.
