Your guess is as good as mine. I hope that Highground is kind of like the defiant map pack's version of tempest but I don't know.

I believe they said somewhere that the maps are not built for forge like tempest. You'll (I doubt I'll waste the money on it) probably be limited to to the same items as most other maps like spire, boneyard, etc.

    We only get scenery objects.

I can't say that I'm not disappointed. But I know that Highlands will be just as fun playing on it, as it would've been forging on it.

O rly, I was extremely disappointed when I found out that highlands would be unforgable. Just from the trailer and vids I could see many amazing things coming from that map

I couldn't agree more. But then again the defiant map pack isn't out yet so there is a chance (but very unlikely) that we might be suprised. :)

Nah, several members have them. No surprises. Just a classic style map pack for the pure enjoyment of playing the game.

    What enjoyment?

On a side note, how hard would it be for Bungie to just add some kind of a Structure item to the maps they're making. People are already growing tired of Forge World's bland Forerunner scenery, so I'm sure Bungie would do well to add some forgeability to their map packs. I'm in no way asking for a brand new Forge World, but at least some basic level of structure-based forging would be appreciated.

I mean has no one ever wanted to make a Judgement map on Sword Base or a Nightfall remake on Boneyard, only to find out that there aren't any usable pieces (other than a sandbag or two, I suppose)? The point I'm trying to make is that I find it appalling that Bungie would fail to recognize one of the biggest parts of Halo: Reach, the Forgers who make use of Forge and who make Custom Games playable. We (Forgers in general, not Forgehub) are literally the backbone behind two of the biggest game modes on Halo: Reach, and Bungie doesn't even think about throwing us a bone and helping us out with easy additions to maps they're already making.

    Cheers, Haris.

Which, IMO, is exactly what Reach needs. Highlands is going to be THE Reach map.

thousands and thousands of people play Reach every day and never touch Forge.
they need to give something to everyone, not just us.

dont get me wrong, i would have liked more forge content too,
but im sure it will come eventually, just have some patience.

The enjoyment that hundreds of thousands of people get from playing Reach every day? It's not complicated.

Bungie didn't make the newest map pack. Their last one did have structure pieces on one of the maps (Tempest). As for the rest, I have no idea why they didn't include some.

We're not the backbone. It would be nice to think we were, but the majority of Halo players doing customs are not using forged maps, or at least not predominantly. I'm not sure what other game mode you are thinking of (unless you mean forge itself) - forging is certainly not the backbone of matchmaking, which is the company's bread and butter. So I think Bungie is quite satisfied with giving us basically just Forge World and Tempest to work with on that front.

Bottom line, this is a game oriented toward multiplayer, firefight and campaign, that happens to have a map editor and a thriving (but clearly minority) map-making community. What Bungie gave us is probably about in line with what percentage of their dollars came from us. Most of my friends who are casual Halo players have never even opened Forge or downloaded more than a couple of forged maps. I do wish we had more - hell yes, I do - but from a business standpoint they are doing exactly what most companies would.

The enjoyment I, among many, many other people, get from playing the game how it was intended, on real maps, like people used to.

Forge is sweet and all, and yes, some awesome maps and games come from it, but I would much prefer to sprinkle them in on occasion to what is already there. Additionally, Highlands is gonna be an instant classic.

Basically that. I haven't even been forging much lately to be honest. I would get back to it if a new Forge World type map came out. But instead I've been doing matchmaking, firefight, and daily challenges. And I'm quite enjoying it. I don't even mind armor lock much any more. :)
