The minecraft.rawcritics.com server is ****ing amazing. The terrain generation will make your jaws drop. It's a custom built generation engine and it works like a dream! I've also settled into a town (I was one of the first residents) and it's grown really big now. If you do decide to join the server, ask someone to lead you to New Livington (NL) and if a resident is online they will get you settled in. If I'm online I'll try get you some tools
Meh, must've been my imagination. You can still get the ones from minecraft for free by digging around in the folders (although I'm not sure if that's legal, don't do it if it is).
I do believe it is legal, although they're in .ogg format. I had all these as mp3's before that was released, but I have NO idea where I got them.
I'm going to be honest rho....it was pretty bad. Like 6 of the 10 minutes were you and your friend bitching about the lag. We got it, it was laggy. What little minecraft there was in there was pretty boring. Just your friend sort of walking around aimlessly not knowing where to go and then the video just ends, no "And next video will explore my bank" or something like that. If you want you and your friend's commentary to be a subscribed to show then it needs to resemble a show. Pick a theme, either make jokes about stuff, build things, or something. You also have some strange editing going on. The intro is fine and you have nice subtle music in the background, keep the music going in the background. It does not distract from what is being said it would make moments of silence seem less awkward. Having ending credits would be good too. Things like a "next time" on the show or some credits to any guests you might have. Sorry if this all seems a little mean but I'm just trying to help your channel get more subscribers and for your audience to get the most out of your videos.
I honestly lag to much to make anything. So that's out of the question. Mark probably could. I probably won't keep up too much with minecraft because my computer isn't meant for gaming. I just came in for an episode and we just did whatever. There are like 2 other segments with me but if it isn't very exciting we won't upload it. That's the reason it didn't have a striict ending. Thanks for the feedback though. We'll work on it.
Wait what? Most of my post was regarding editing...lagging has nothing to do with editing. In fact if you filmed enough content you could feasibly edit around bad lag. As far as show content, I suppose lag could prevent a lot but again if enough is filmed I'm sure his server isn't always laggy so lag could be edited around. Come up with an outline of what to do per episode so you know what you're doing so the audience can follow along. I say that feedback to you because I can't talk to your friend, so I'm sort of counting on you to relay the feedback.
I've had minecraft for about two weeks... and im running out of things to do... I had a long term objective to get to the nether, but I finished that... then I was building a giant tree, done with that... I just wish there were like skill levels or harder enemies that drop rare things... =P
Hey man, this is Mark. That's actually great feedback, thanks a lot! The one thing I disagree with is the editing through things. I usually try not to cut out parts of commentaries just so it's not wierd, although I understand where you're coming from. Also, normally I would have the minecraft sound/music in the background but it didn't occur to me that fraps would record our skype call as well, which ruined that. However, excuses aside, that was really good constructive criticism and i want you to know that I really appreciate it.
Your welcome. I didn't mean for you to edit out usable commentary but edit out unusable material. Don't just record and instantly go to youtube. Spend some time to edit around problems. If you are filming a "show" and the game suddenly lags a lot, the audience does not want to see you deal with lag or ***** about it. You could easily edit cut the lag out and still have all the commentary. If you film 20 minutes of material, but only 10 or so minutes would interest the audience don't show all 20 minutes. Also nox, build a roller coaster, they are fun to make.
YouTube - Minecraft Weighted Companion Iv noticed alot more too that my wallpaper I made awhile ago is still getting alot of attention. http://minecraftwallpapers.com/Minecraft_Waterfall-5.html Just saw that and it seems, someone from IGN wants to use it too.. Not sure what up with that yet tho.
^Related to above discussion though not directly. Maybe you should edit the highlights of the video and then do your commentary of what's happening as you guys watch them so you don't lose anything or make people watch useless/unfunny stuff so they can get the point of the useful/funny stuff.
Alright, I just recently got the game, and I went mining. Came across a lava lake. One wrong misstep, fell into it. Died, and lost some diamond.
