concert is what i'd say would have an excess of 500 people (but numbers arent what its about) TICKETS. the bands usually have more than one album, are signed. appeared on TV for a good reason. i.e. music video that would be a concert. your interpretation of concert is twisted if you think pyro has anything to do with concert. you dont have pyro in the ****ing albert hall, but only concerts happen there.
Let me be more clear as to avoid further disagreement... WHEN WANTING TO SEE A BAND Smaller theaters and clubs are much better. The band is in your face, the crowd can interact and you can feel the relationship between the fans and the band. Many bands comment about wanting to do tours at smaller venues to get that feeling back. Nothing like a sea of faceless people in front of you with 50 feet of railing separating you.
WHEN YOU WANT TO SEE YOUR BANDS. you cant stick muse in a bar and enjoy them. (as much) and im pretty sure camo would say the same about rusko.
and ive had band members crowd surf on me and around me at music festivals. and you cant have 20,000 people riled up by one guy on the stage at a bar.
I shall take my opinion elsewhere. Obviously we all have different ideas of what a concert is. However, I will first say, even taking away my "little bar shows" which a lot of you probably envision as smaller than they are, I've still been to a **** ton of concerts in tons of places. I have experienced all different sized shows, and to get back to the point of the ORIGINAL topic, I find smaller venues to be more rewarding to see a band at.
I'd say it's about the number of people, the location, and ways of entrance. Gig- Crowd: less than 100 Location: bars, people houses. Entrance: stamp on the hand, or cash at the door. Shows- Crowd: 500+ Location: Theaters, big clubs. Entrance: Ticket, cash/credit at the door. Concert- Crowd: 2000+ Location: Theaters, outdoor stages, or festivals. Entrance: Tickets, wristbands.
a dank large ****ing bar. it fits around 300 people when crammed? or a local nightclub that lends itself to other uses. but the prime thing the place isnt designed for it.
I wasn't talking about a damn bar in the first place. You started the bar talk because you all assume I'm some ****ing tool standing on stage with his mother being the only one in the crowd. Camo posted, and a "show" is what I'd classify as the best experience IN MY OPINION. You started all this bullshit because I didn't include that it was my opinion, which should've been obvious.
Regardless, an environment doesn't depict talent. A lot of bands perform some of their songs in front of large audiences for the hype of it all. While performing in smaller audiences, it creates a more emotional bond between the musician and the listener. You can't really create to much of an emotional bond with hyped-up music. It has to be, in some way, "from their heart." For instance, electronic artists, like MSTRKRFT would absolutely blow in front of a small crowd. Examples (don't mind the music itself, you can mute it): Large Audience/Festival: YouTube - nine inch nails - Reptile (Woodstock 1994) Smaller Venue: YouTube - Reptile - Trent Reznor, Jeordie White, Peter Murphy
Any time ANYONE states their views on ANYTHING, it's an opinion. I'm not gonna tag a god damn disclaimer on everything I say because you're an idiot.
to wrap it back round, you said festivals are lame, you prefer small venues, you've been to a lot of concerts, you cant interact with the band in a large venue. small venues would include a bar, ive seen some of your vids, you may have been to a 'battle of the bands' here and there, but they're not concerts. you say the bands you like do smaller venues, which we can agree on majority that they are shows not concerts, so you saying that music festivals are lame has no base. and you have never experienced anything like it. [br][/br]Edited by merge: you're the idiot here, cos you're getting mad and complaining to the shoutbox. you are getting defensive cos youve been obnoxious and ignorant. im not saying smaller venues are worse. im saying your statement is completely unfounded and that you saying youve been to more musical events has no bounding to your initial statement.
