    ERUPTION

Hello all & welcome to my latest map to date

Eruption is a medium - large symmetrical map
    2 - 16 players 10+ recommended!

This is not like my usual maps, as you may have seen over the last few maps I have made I have tried to make map more competitive, stopping crazy towers and loads of power weapons.

This map was first built with ways in mind, I wanted to make a map that had more ways around than you can shake a stick at.
This in turn has created in my opinion a great map layout that is really competitive, in my opinion one of the most competitive I have made.
The rocket is central in the center of the map where most of the game plays out. (In testing say aprox 75%)

The map has a water level, many cool aesthetic features and nicely decorated walls. There is no z fighting, any found in testing has been fixed & removed to improve the slight complaints of lag in early testing. This has now fixed the problem :)

Some said the map favoured jet pack so to compensate I have added soft kill zones in the places that aren't accessable by spartans without jetpacks.

Everyone seemed happy in testing with weapons, They are fairly placed and not too many power weapons.

    1 x energy sword 180 s central water stage
    2 x shot gun 100 s +1 clip
    4 x dmr 45 s
    1 x needler 60 s + 3 clip
    4 x sniper 180 s + 1 clip (1 in each base for 4 teams flag)

    1 x rocket 180 s +1 clip central
    1 x plasma pistol 45 s
    1 x plasma repeater 45 s
    2 x assault rifle 45 s + 3 clip
    2 x needler rifle 60's + 2 clip
    plasma x 4
    frag x 2

    4 x health

I haven't made a custom gametype, but I have it set up with dmr & magnum with jet pack & evade both used. It will play better than with assault rifles, although as there are mid & long range weapons around. If you don't customise game yourself usually, it will still play well.

Nice man, I really enjoyed playing on this map, It was amazing. The aesthetics were great, the weapons were placed nicely and the map was forged neatly and had many cover areas for a map it's size. I don't think it had too much cover or too little, great work dude.

Thank you! Yeah I appreciate the help testing. Some changes have been made since you seen it last, the odd little change here and there to make it look better and also the z fighting that I must of over looked. Had a good few games on the map last night and it played really well. As I have tested this map more I have made more adjustments to make the map play at its best. Thanks for checking out my map :)

Hey you got it posted! Last night was a ton of fun even though the teams weren't fair... It doesn't seem like you changed anything from last night, which is great, but lets be honest, the upper level is almost never used. It looks cool as an aesthetic "roof" but not for gameplay. The weapons are very well balanced and you should have shown the cool lifts using the shield doors. Overall this was a blast and is something different than your average map.

Thanks, great feedback! Yeah the recent tests I have done went really well, the central part was full of some serious action. Since tests last night I changed the walls in lower part of central building to glass and I added a few soft kill zones to keep jetpacks from gaining best positions. I agree the top is mainly for aesthetics. There is reasonable vantage there too.... It would probably be still big enough without too but I liked its looks. Thanks for your feedback and helping test out the map :)

Maybe not your usual map, but after a few minutes in it I got what you meant. Man, you stuck it on the WAYS thing, for a multi level map I dig how many ways I can get around or to different levels, or bail out of a sticky situation. Plus, by using the mancans, teleporters or those cool ascending walls, it just made it more fun to me.

This map has an open feel, no confusion about where you are or where you're going. However, with it's construction and cover placement, no matter where I was I never felt completely vulnerable.

Also, on most maps the high ground is a great advantage, but on this map with the way the top is made, the glass covers and layout below, it helps negate that advantage and makes play from lower levels more even. Another excellent job.

    I
Thanks rock....this is some of the best feedback I have received and I am glad you have taken the time to look at map before giving feedback. I am pleased with how this has turned out... I went out with a purpose and feel I accomplished. Ways around was my priority with this map. And in customs it has payed off . The map flows with the variety of ways around , I am also pleased with the ascending lift walls, this is not my concept but can work well. The top doesn't give too much vantage ...also the soft kill zones restrict jet pack although I feel I didnt need to add, as the top only gives restricted views of map. Thank you for the great feedback and checking out maps! Appreciated

Hello!!! Thank you. The eruption...errrr, I wanted to see what a rock ball would look like. The ball is made of 40+ rocks in exactly same position on a different angle ...kind of looked like an eruption , hence the name, lol. Thanks for feedback and support on my maps :)

Thanks xbg! This was designed to be competitive and to flow well. It is big but not too big. I am pleased with how this map flows although I feel an update is required to improve frame rate . The rock ball and glass room seem to be causing a few issues with some gamers in testing. . . Although it doesnt help that so much of the game plays out here which in itself causes frame rate issues.
Thanks for your feedback and help on maps :)

When it comes down to snappy gameplay and geometic aesthetics you definitely thrive in that domain! The map has plenty of choices for a player to make, and each choice seems to have risk vs gain attributes. The walls are indeed well decorated, and the map overall definitely has a unique theme. I respect in how much depth you went in explaining about the map such as the list and spawn time for every weapon (I understand that competitive maps require that, still that is a lot of work) And what kind of map would it be without a massive aesthetic piece in the center! ha ha nicely done my friend, and the maps in the making look great, looking forward to seeing the posts.

Thank you xSoGx Grim! This is great feedback! I have tried to make the map look nice and individual. Over the last few months I feel my skills have greatly improved, helping me to make the maps flow better and have a point to the map. Friends, feedback and comments have been a big help along the way.
I do really enjoy playing on this map, but it has not been as popular as some of my other maps, but apart from a few negetive comments on lag almost everyone who has played (I think) has enjoyed playing customs on eruption. I appreciate you taking the time to check out map and read this post before commenting. It really is rewarding to know my work on both the map and post is liked. Thanks.

The new map, last night I ran first tests and it went really well I feel, usually I would post after few tests, but with this map I would like to thoroughly test and tweek. Also just started making zombies map off black ops kino der totem thats going quite well too!

Thank you for your support and feedback! Keeping me motivated :) Also hear new forge art is on the way, wont say too much from what I hear it is going to be amazing ...as always but even more, am looking forward.

I think this map has potential to be good, but you have to remove that huge pile of rocks. It just doesn't fit in the map and all it does is cause frame-rate issues to occur. There are other problems with the map, mostly minor, but that's a big and easily fixable one. I suggest you take my advice and remove it. It's one thing to make a map look good, but it takes real skill and knowledge to make a map play good.

Hello, and thanks for the feedback... I agree the rock ball has no purpose in the map, and it is a good idea to remove.... sometimes I come up with ideas and I just roll with them. I was really happy with this maps flow and layout. I will look into a remake . Thanks
