Lol agreed, District 9 was fantastic if you ask me. If having aliens in your film mandated an action flick then I for one would be very disappointed. Sci-fi has some of the greatest potential of any genre to explore deep and meaningful issues, much as this potential is rarely exploited, at least in film.
YouTube - Battle: Los Angeles - Trailer 2 - Official HD - The Reel Place Anyone else interested? Shitty title I know lol. Plus Michelle Rodriguez
I watched that preview on LIVE a couple months ago. Pretty much any movie about alien invasion... I'll watch. Michelle Rodriguez is just a bonus.
I dunno, its just the trailer didnt advertise the movie for what it truly was. The setting, I think, would have been slightly better off if it was more action like. It was advertised as such an action movie. Nevertheless, it wasnt bad. It was just different to what I expected, therefore dampening the movie experience for me.
Tangled Team America World Police Crazy Heart Fight Club If you're bored I suggest you watch these. Tangled especially. Every single divot of that film was amazing.
Watched 127 Hours yesterday. It's such an accomplishment. Given a limited setting, Danny Boyle (Director) still manages to make an entertaining and interesting film.
My favourite film. Starring David Bowie, Michael Caine, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, directed by Christopher Nolan, bringing up the complex philosophical questions between identity and change during a story told non-linearly about a fierce rivalry between two rising magicians that threatens to tear both their lives apart.
So I watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. I was disappointed in the lack of rape scenes in the movie, I heard there was going to be more. :| But even so, I really enjoyed it and would not mind if it didn't have a rape scene at all. I would think Michelle Rodriguez is detriment to the film. I saw it a long time ago and it was a total mind**** to me. I got the gist of it but I really should watch it again.
I saw Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas recently, and I really enjoyed it. I'm probably going to watch it again, because a guy barged in drunk half-way through the film and it was hard watching it past that. I love some of the lines in it though, it's definitely a classic.
So I saw The Social Network tonight. I have to say it was much more than I expected and I honestly want to watch it again. Perhaps it was the way I was viewing, but loud music throughout kind of ruined many of the (what I'd call) important talking scenes, specifically one in the night club. Justin Timberlake played a very good part, acting as the antagonist, but I guess in a way our main character played by Jesse Eisenberg was the antagonist. Very deep plot and it was actually much more than I thought it to ever be. I recommend watching this. A
I thought The Social Network was really boring and felt as if the ambient instrument soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross was more entertaining than the movie's dialogue. I don't have a Facebook, MySpace, etc so maybe it's just because I couldn't relate.
The Social Network is one of the rare movies that I've been able to maintain interest in seeing multiple times. Some other ones like Inception and Shutter Island that I re-watched at least once from last year were more because you catch different thins the second time through that you missed the first time (seriously, watch Shutter Island twice) but Social Network I just plain found entertaining all three times I've seen it. I'm really disappointed to have not seen many of the other best picture contenders. Might be worthwhile to pirate and marathon them today, but that sounds like a lot of effort for a collection of movies I anticipate being very dry.

you know, initially i thought of No Country for Old Men as super realistic. After a good 5 or 6 times, it now strikes me as creepily supernatural and larger than life. i just got done watching it yet again and i cant stop pondering. theres a reason its easily my second favorite coen bros movie. (big lebowski will never be knocked down from number one lol). chigurh to me now almost feels like some kind of ****ed knight for some bigger picture. as if he's karma in the form of this guy with a terrible haircut what are your guys' thoughts on it? see i found the dialogue to be extreeeemely witty and entertaining. theres way more there than just being able to relate imo yeah its okay. i definitely dug the overall atmosphere, i still think about the two main kids on their bikes just going down the street with metal playing in the background. THAT was bad ass
