This map is so good. Every match I played on it was great and I discovered my love for 4 vs 4 invasion as well. It was genius to recreate such a memorable part of the campaign (at least memorable for me). Well done.

this map was excellent in the couple games that i helped test on it.
i believe that we were playing FFA oddball at the time though,
so i am really excited to test out the more standard gametypes on it.

your execution of the design of that area from exodus was really good
the whole place just has this massive, epic feel to it and you accomplished that well

after reading this statement, i am very concerned for your framerate...
have you stress tested the map?

Actually, there are absolutely zero framerate issues, even in splitscreen. You can fly a Falcon through the map in splitscreen with 8 people shooting plasma pistols and grenades everywhere, and there is still NO screenlag.

The reason for this lack of screenlag is most likely the lack of lights or merged glass and whatever. It's pretty good in that respect. :)

I'm very happy with how this map turned out guys. I really loved that part of the campaign. I thought about replicating it myself, but It would've been more of a mini-game involving jetpacks. (The broken pieces you have to jetpack on to get to your part).

If I can join in on TGIF this time around, I hope to play this.

This is well forged and different looking. The aesthetics are plain but it runs smooth. I'm impressed you included invasion even if I never play it. The one thing I'm not fond of is the columned bridge even though it breaks lines of sight well.

Yeah, in retrospect I kinda prefered it when the columns for that bridge section were just railings, but I'm not sure whether that'd make certain lines of sight too dominating.

Well, as you said, the scaffold (that's it's "official" name) is very important for blocking lines of sight. It also makes a great "house" for one of the territories in Invasion, one of the territories in Territories, one of the hills in KOTH, one of the drop points in Headhunter, etc. It is also a more interesting place for the shotgun to spawn than a flat, open platform. The scaffold basically takes the center of the map, and makes it ten times more interesting. It is a great shooting roost where you can stay long enough to get a few long range kills, and, as if that wasn't enough, it was there in campaign. Why wouldn't we put it in?

I thought it looked kinda wimpy back then to be honest, and now it provides more cover as well.

I think if you used some walkway larges under the scaffold then it would look like it was properly supported and therefor it wouldn't look so out of place. I'm not saying it serves no purpose, just saying its ugly so you can try and improve it.

I loved playing on this map, especially o on the defense in invasion. EMP-Dropping falcons to their dooms is ALWAYS entertaining. XD

Fer serious though, what you've done here is taking a space never really intended for these ends and through excellent use of the weapon layout, spawning and objectives, made an experience that many of us have come to enjoy. The fact that it supports Invasion and actually plays well boggles my brains.

    Good stuff mang. Good stuff.

    Edited by merge:

That's because that limit is across all gametypes, and you have a drastically different map every time you load a different one up.

I can't wait to see myself in the video! lols, anyways, we played one of our best Invasion games ever on this map today! Though you are a terrible Falcon driver... -.- Twice we feel to a water grave because of your nonsense you call flying. You should be disgraced. :p Lol, but it was still fun, other than Stevo's constant ranting. :) Great job, can't wait to see your next map(s).

Played this map again today, and it was yet another exciting adventure. It's still very balanced in Invasion. And ill have input on the "falcon over powering problem". Long story short, its not. It's as easy as spawning with a plasma pistol or grenade launcher and having it fall into the water, that covers a lot of the flying field. Or in Matts(?) case, just take the falcon from Erupt :p *bump*

Yes, that was a pretty good game, the one we played today was less impressive, but still fun. The falcon's tendency to be EMPed is completely by design. The falcon is a support vehicle on Cargo Port, and was never intended to dominate. It has just enough room to maneuver and dodge EMP blasts, but after a while you're really pressing your luck. Today I dodged 5-10 EMPs before being taken down, it still didn't take that long given the nature of the map. It has nothing to do with my driving ability. As I told you, I racked up 35 wheelman medals in one game of big team on Spire just the other day.

I still can't believe Stevo got 51 kills in that game yesterday...

Ah well, that's still "a few days.". It better be extra awesome though! :p

Seriously, Im really looking forward to the video, you do some really awesome work Crypto.

EDIT: Lomgshot, you posted while I was still writing my post lol

You're right about the Falcon too.

And why isn't Erupt using his peeps sig? :(

Erupt's obviously ashamed because of his bad Falcon experiences... :p

Also, I had a look at the spawns and health packs since 3 Legged Goat mentioned them, and I couldn't find anything wrong with them either. Maybe we should invite him in to tell us what he thinks?

I don't see why we should change spawns or health packs post-release just because of one person's suggestions, i mean seriously, the other 5 bajillion people who played this seemed perfectly satisfied with both.

Oh, and we didn't even play this today! :O I'm surprised we made it through a customs lobby without playing it, must be a new record.

Well I suppose it's your choice, I mean we do have a ton of stuff to work on at the moment anyways, not to mention I have schoolwork that I should really be doing... :/

    derp derp map is herp

I'm quite legitimately an animal on this map as well... 51 kills 8 deaths much?
    Pwned.

It's probably one of my most favoured invasion maps to date because it's still 4v4 and not all about spamming large amounts of vehicles. The play space is nice and unique too and I know it took you guys a lot of effort to make the map suitable for each gametype.

Oh.. and the bomb arming points in phase 2 look totally frickin' awesome maaan.. Props to the genius who made those. They look fluffin' bad assssss!!!

You know Stevo, we might make more maps specifically for small Invasion games. It'd be good to make the action experience-orientated rather than vehicle-orientated. I think I might have a go at making a stealth-based Invasion map at some point, although it would be helpful if we could enable motion trackers at the beginning of phase 2 rather than phase 1.

Also, your custom title seems pretty apt, o Stevo the Modest.
