A better idea would be to recreate it on Tempest. I'm not sure if you could build it with only 7500 budget, but there would be next to no screen lag if you managed it.
yeah I thought about it. and I think I could build it with that budget. but building it on tempest will decrease the ppl who can DL and enjoy the map. but if I should build it there, maybe do a design of guardian where the laser goes thru the map ^^ that would be awesome
OMG I was online on the weekend but never saw you on so I couldn't see the map. Next weekend. I really wants to see it and give you some ideas for it!
yeah for sure. my xbox broke down this weekend so I havent gotten the chance to be online that much. but next weekend we'll hook up
A "spiritual" successor of a "spiritual" successor! (Lockout > Guardian > Guardian Reach) I love it! Ping me when you get your Xbox back, D. I'd love to playtest. BTW, I love what you've done to open up the hallway above the lower man cannon. And the center platform looks great with the struts. Keep us posted. P.S sux if you're right about the falls with regard to frame rate. I love forging there. But sometimes it lulls me to sleepytime land from the awesome white noise.
So far this looks beautiful, have you tried removing the lights to help framerate issues? Anyways I do agree that you should change things to make it more your own map.
yeah but the spawn time is 130 so it wont be accesable that often ^^ I may rethink some things before I post the actual map. the only "lights" i use for the moment is the teleporter recievers on the center platform. anyway, tried to take them away but it didnt change the frame rate anything. I actually took away everything but the middle platform in a rage of madness because the frame rate wasnt perfect. still didnt make it better tough. dont know why it is like that. I've never buildt a map in the lagoon before but I think I played maps there and dont think I noticed frame rate issues then. . . weird. well you may be right that I could redesign some of the features of the map to make it more my own but for the moment I cant think of anything to do with it other the keeping it as it is. still thinking tough.
You could do a completely stripped down version on Tempest (almost no aesthetics, lights, etc.) for the people that want maximum performance, and then do your recreation on Forge World. It won't decrease the amount of people that want to download it, they will still have the Forge World version available to them.
I am not talking about the actual needler, that spot is a pretty hot spot for sniping activity, and you made it so they have an even better perch with less chance of being snuck up on by extending it.
You could try, although this would make the map a tad bit uglier, to place coliseum walls around the more distinguished and "exciting" parts of natural geometry that are shown throughout the map. This works for me on occasions as it lessens the amount of processing the system has to do, and therefore, reduces lag.
aah, I see. going to test it some more and see what I can do about that if it becomes a problem with map. [br][/br]Edited by merge: actually thought about that the other day and after starting up forge, flipping up the menu with the "wall" parts and realising that there a big 0 in front of me. dont have any pieces to do that. [br][/br]Edited by merge: yeah. might do something like that.
I dont think this will be that much of a problem, I think starfighter have fixed the lower mancannon to almost take you to the far end of that ramp. and if you cant sneek up on someone there. . . you arent sneaky enough ;P
hmmm... now I have seen a few guardians maps around but i must say that for the most part this looks more like guardian then those did.
My problem with it is moreso giving them an even wider and easier range of sight with better footing. You're taking a design that was damn near perfect to begin with, and changing things. Its a fine and delicate balance.
Do me a favor, marry me then let me divorce you so I get half of your forging skills. it works like that right? I thought it was clever. in all seriousness this looks really nice and I love how it isnt quite the same. Looking forward to playing on it. And if you need testers just let me know.
This is the best recreation of Gaurdian I've yet to see on Forgehub. You have my download as soon as the map is released. Keep up the good work!
I think this map looks great. It's got the feel of Guardian all the way. Especially the enclosed feeling in the lift room and the shotgun room areas. I don't really like maps that just kind of float out over Forge World randomly, they feel too open and for whatever reason they feel empty to me. Putting the map near the cliff wall gives it substance, at least aesthetically.
yeah. thats probably the right way to do it ;P lol I want alot of testers to make this map as good as it can be. so just my GT and we'll play it soon. thanks for the comment man ^^ [br][/br]Edited by merge: not really, I kind of focused to recreate the feel of the old guardian and try to make it fit better with reach's playstyle. but there actually is quite alot of new tactical jumps to discover in this one ;P [br][/br]Edited by merge: thanks man ^^ just need to fix some things then the V.1 will be ready [br][/br]Edited by merge: yeah I think this area was the best for a guardian remake. even tough some maps can be cool even floating in midair. if theres a purpose for it
