"The technology of these forerunner climate control facilities is only just being understood." This is NIMBUS, a BTB map made in the gulch and inspired by sandtrap. It features warthogs, falcons and one neutral banshee. Power weapons include 2 snipers, 2 rocket launchers and a neutral spartan laser. The intention of the map is to re-capture the feel of some of the old school Halo 3 BTB maps. You'll be pleased to know that there are zero Z-fighting issues, no frame rate issues (I usedlarge forge pieces and had 3k budget left) and no disco-flashing I have also included the link for NIMBUS HEAVY, which features two scorpions, 2 gauss hog and a wraith with extra heavy weapons to smash them with. I really love this map. It generates a Sandtrap kind of feel to it, and especially the Heavy map. The first map I've played on that incorporates Falcons well. Gameplay is very accurate to my standards, and it's truly a fun map. One suggestion, is to design a more playable bottom side (looking at the last picture).
So the master mind behind posibly the best BTB map ive seen on reach (Hogs Den) has come out with another classic. I truly applaud your ability to make such large scale map while maintaining awsome structure and asthetics. good work!!!
glad to see another BTB map from you, i have been a fan of your forge style for a while and i dont think you have made any other maps recently unless i have missed them? looking forward to getting some games in on this, it looks like a good time. invite me next time you are running it.
Yes it does indeed look like sandtrap. However I hope it plays better then sandtrap. It just seemed to take forever to get from one place to another without forging teleporters (elephants are really slow...obviously). The falcon probably makes gameplay a lot funner.
yeah this map is defenitly worth a DL. as other ppl already brought up it has a strong resemblance to sandtrap nice nice nice
Thanks for the positive comments @robbieagray: I can't promise it plays better than sandtrap (cos such things are a matter of opinion), but I can promise it plays different. It's not as large for starters, and as you point out the three flying vehicles add a new dimension. Also, the structures have steeper sides than on sandtrap which means warthogs cant drive up and mash the infantry.
what's the difference between the standard and the heavy? EDIT: just reread the main post, got it haha. anyways, looks good, will dl both and check them out.
Wow, this looks like a pretty nice spiritual successor to SandTrap. Too bad there's no Elephants! I'll download and have a look, maybe I'll post more of my thoughts if I get a game going on here.
I'd honestly suggest that you should replace the Scorpions with Wraiths in the heavy version. I played a match on this and about half way through we started getting bombarded from halfway across the map with the scorpions. Maybe it's just a one time thing though.
Probably more appropriate would be to put a disclaimer on the heavy version: WARNING! TANKS CAUSE SPAWN RAPE!
Actually we weren't getting spawn killed. It was just when we tried to cross the map there was a tank waiting at the other side. Other than that, the heavy version is really fun! I haven't gotten a chance to try out the regular version though.
