YouTube - Dead Island: Official Announcement Trailer If this game keeps the emotional appeal like the trailer has, it'll be fantastic. If it's a bullshit side-project like Dead Rising then meh... I hope the latter, because it looks like it could be a fantastic game, very few people play on the emotions for more than a scene in zombie related media.
The concept is really good too, I read up on it, they are going for a more realistic approach. When a zombie apocalypse happens out of thin air we're not gonna have shotguns, sniper rifles, and pistols lying around, so the game takes it to a different level. Basically all the weapons you get will be scavenged, and since it's on an island resort, I can imagine finding a few fire axes, maybe you'll be able to break down wooden chairs so you can use those as weapons. I'm glad it seems we're straying away from silly zombie games, because if this were to really happen in real life, there would be barely anything silly about it, to be honest, I would be scared shitless. So yeah, I'm excited for Dead Rising meets Heavy Rain fosho.
Dammit, Randy, I was just about to post that. I put up a thread in the video section that contains the write up on IGN with all the details about the game. I have no idea how the game will turn out at this point, but I can at least give credit to a phenomenal trailer. However, if Techland can deliver on their promises, I think this could be a real surprise hit. All zombie games have come off as silly to me and are essentially just ways to kill thousands of people without it being called a murder simulator. If they can give real weight to the characters and focus on an emotional story like they say they will, I think I'll enjoy this game.
So many good games this year My wallet is gonna get a serious workout this year It starts with L.A. Noir of course.
