Too difficult. The processing power that it would take to 'learn' the newly forged terrain would be virtually impossible with the current xbox. Maybe if it was on a powerful PC, it could be more bot-like, but even then I have yet to see anything from a game that can throw hundreds of enemy AI into a space that isn't 100% scripted.

It's because they stopped (if they ever started) designing maps that cater to specific gametypes and instead went the "jack of all trades" route. This excludes Invasion obviously, but there's not an originally shipped map that I can tell caters to one gametype over another. It also doesn't help that Bungie seems to have left the classic objective gametypes to hang in the wind while shoving Headhunter and Stockpile down our throats in the objective playlist. It's kind of a shame, really.

I agree with this. Firefight, while occasionally fun, is not what the majority of halo players play. Devoting one of three maps to it seems unfair. Firefight seems like something that should be added for free or for reduced cost. A firefight map pack, which would be separate from a traditional map pack, would be a good idea.

Take a look at this and tell me Firefight isn't what "the majority of halo players play". There are currently 12.654 people playing some form of FF in matchmaking right now, which is quite a bit. The only playlist with more people in it right now is SWAT, mainly because of the weekly challenge.

Biased stats are still biased. Try again on a day in which all daily challenges are not Firefight Challenges.

While it's the lowest of my interests on the scale of the three maps, I'm very glad they are introducing more firefight maps. People who do enjoy Firefight are getting sick of the same maps over and over. I do think they should either have a separate map pack for just FF, or make it a four map pack and not cut out the third competitive map.

right....I see you missed the point of what we were saying. We are for a firefight map, a map pack even, just not in a 1200 or whatever DLC pack comprised of 3 maps.

    And 31,292 people are playing non-firefight ;)

Also, not everyone hates Reach and Firefight as much as you do. I think firefight is perfectly fine as is.

Right... so about a quarter of the population is playing firefight, and 1/6th of the current DLC we know of is firefight. Quit bitching.

I'm surprised at how many people complain about the price. its only 10 bucks, seems totally worth it to me. As these last few map packs will be the last bit of halo to come out of bungie, I'm buying them all immediately.

was referring to squidhand's post and what is with all this taken out of context. Argument for the sake of argument? I'll make this part bold. I am for a firefight map. Just not so much for a single map along with 2 pvp maps. Like shroomz said the stats are biased to what the weekly challenges are like. If today was mostly a matchmaking day than the firefight playlists would be ghost towns.

But this doesn't apply for Custom FF Games :(. But that FF Map looks like something never seen before. I just got the feeling it will include a special feature. I dunno why, but i just got that feeling. I'm very happy that Bungie did this unexpected move.

Firefight playlists generally hover around 2-3,000 for Arcade and under 1,000 for Limited. Total FireFight players on a normal day hover around 3,500 total. On most days, FireFight is usually among top 5 playlists, but moves up to top 3 on Firefight Challenge Thursdays. Team SWAT and Team Slayer usually have the highest populations.

i think people are only sick of firefight because most people only play it to boost and veto until they get the same map because theyve worked out a smooth routine on that map to maximize credits. can only play courtyard and corvette so many times.

anyway, whatever is in the map pack, i will probably buy it anyway, because its really not that expensive so i dont care that much and i wannnnnnnnt it

It's a shrewd but wise business move to include a map that caters to only one playlist with a couple that cater to many. A Firefight only map pack would definitely make less money than a standard map pack would, so there is no incentive business-wise to make that happen.

I personally don't like how MS has reduced the DLC map count in with the Halo franchise, but to call the placement one map unfair out of the six total is a bit over the top.

While it's a wise business decision to package it in with normal Matchmaking maps, a Firefight-only Map Pack can do one thing that will be more difficult to do with a Matchmaking Map Pack... they can make it mandatory to continue playing within a playlist. A Firefight-only Map Pack will only affect the population of 3 small playlists of players, while DLC for Matchmaking will affect most of their population and players. I'd be surprised if there were more than 100,000 unique users each day playing Firefight, where as there are 500,000-900,000 unique users playing Matchmaking depending on the day. Losing a fraction of 100,000 is much easier to absorb than losing a fraction of their Matchmaking population.

Finally I found the pics. for the most part I think Condemned looks pretty cool. Unearthed also looks pretty sweet. However at this point Highland looks like it very well could have been an edited picture of a forge map with the background edited. Just saying.

Highlands also had a pre-game selection screen showing the map name (in french).

Doing that would go against the model that Bungie has in place for Reach, and one that I'm glad they changed since Halo 3. Forcing people to pay for maps just to play in its (in this case lone) playlist is just bad business, and I think Bungie and MS learned from their mistake with Halo 3.

Unless you're speaking of a FF version of the Noble playlist, then it's not a bad idea.

Okay, now I see what you were talking about. My original comment was based off of the picture used from the menu. Further searching yielded some more nice info.

Too bad Unearthed is a firefight map. :( Would have loved to play slayer or infection on it. :(

I'm not really seeing the bad business part. We aren't saying release a FF map pack instead of a MM map pack. We are saying, in addition to a map pack containing 3 MM maps. Charge 10 for the main DLC and 5 or something for a firefight pack. Inject 6 new maps, firefight community is happy, competitive/casual MM community is happy, Bungie + Microsoft get's more money than a single map pack. Not really seeing the argument involved here. We are just suggesting a preferred plan that makes sense. We understand that won't be the case and we will still buy the new DLC either way, this is discussion after all.
