I was incredibly bored one day as I waited for my friend to finish his game of matchmaking so I decided to mess around on Forge world. I began to fly to the top of the many different cliffs and challenged myself to get down safely. I then made a specific gametype in which I take off all my shields and lower my damage resistance so players are incredibly fragile. This is by far the most impressive jump that I have discovered. I was at the highest point on Forge World (right on the cliff with my back against the kill barrier of the map) and I jumped to the very bottom without injuring myself. Watch the video on Youtube Watch (rendered)/Download on Bungie.net I think that I might make an entire map dedicated to completing jumps like this one around Forge World.
For that video, did you need the whole bungie pro with the minutes thing, or how'd you get it? On the other hand, great jump. A map dedicated to that type of gameplay would be awesome for an achievement HORSE episode.
Bungie Pro video. They give you 5 minutes of standard definition rendering for free every month (they do not pile up though) and you can buy more. Looking at the price of capture cards, it's a pretty fair buy. Once rendered, I can download the video and upload it to Youtube.
bungee ... bungee. Jus' sayin'. Troll: How do we know for sure you have those shield traits listed? Un-troll: How long did it take you to find that jump? Seems like that would be a lot of time spent and a lot of suicides.
You have to admit though, that was a good pun. Epic jump, but I'm almost 100% sure that a jump that high, even with sliding off objects to decrease damage, is impossible with no shields and lowest damage resistance. If you did that though, Chuck Norris would almost be impressed. I've never tried that, only thing I've tried to do is grid jump out of the map. Only worked once.
You guys realize that having less shielding/damage resistance makes you survive higher falls. Dontcha? edit: At least I think so...
It's very possible. I've done it myself, it's really not difficult. Hell, I've launched myself across forge world and occasionally survived thanks to random ledges that make for perfect slide jumps.
No it doesn't. It makes you far more susceptible to damage. As for the previous poster: you make a good point, it does seem like it could look fake. I did make a second video with me killing myself with a grenade at the end to prove it, but I don't have many render minutes so I didn't feel like wasting more. It is completely legitimate though and you can try to attempt it yourself to see that it works, you just have to hit the correct edge of a specific rock and go in the right direction afterwards.
Lol, this is sooooo easy. When you fall, almost any sort of angled object will break your fall by directing your verticle momentum gained by gravity over a horizontal plane. While it doesn't work if the angle is too high or low, with the right angled object, you can survive any fall.
Actually, there isn't always a perfectly angled object for higher falls, so it requires a sequence of objects starting with high angles and ending with lower angles. I think that jump use three. It's amazing how you did that.
My friend was forging a map and I was waiting for him to finish so I just wandered around forgeworld by finding different natural pieces of map geometry and finding ways to get down without AAs and special gametypes. The one that I recorded was the one that I found to be most impressive.
