Remake of the Halo: CE map, Prisoner by LightningSt0rm and SynergyNT

Please read the notes below discussing some of the decisions we made before commenting:

    BUGS:

We encountered a bug when creating this map that we have worked around, but resulted in a slight change to the original map. We added health packs to each of the sniper platforms that were supposed to be specific to Assault and CTF, but they were showing up in Slayer game types as well. The game type specific and label settings were correct, but they were still showing up. Resetting the game type specific and label settings and removing, then re-adding the health packs did not resolve the issue. The steps below will reproduce the issue.

    1. Open any map into Forge under Assault or CTF editing mode.
    2. Delete all on any health stations if desired.
    3. Place a single health station.
    4. Set the game type specific setting on the health station to True.
    5. Set the label setting on the health station to Assault or CTF as appropriate for the editing mode.
    6. Save the map.
    7. Play a custom game of Classic Slayer, Slayer or Slayer Pro on your new map.
    8. Play a custom game of Assault or CTF (the opposite of the one used on Forge).
To avoid this issue, instead of placing the health packs in the sniper towers only for these two game types, we added a third health pack on the wall by the rocket launcher platform on the bottom level that is there for all game types. We uploaded a video to YouTube showing the issue. The video and broken map file are linked below.

    VIDEO

    SCALE:

When we first started creating this map, we got well into it and realized the map was going to be HUGE compared to the original. We put a lot of work into scaling it down, but we recognize it is still not perfect. In the end, we tried to make sure all of the jumps and major sight lines looked and played like the original.

    LADDER REPLACEMENTS:

Since there are no ladders in Forge, we were faced with trying to come up with replacements that kept gameplay close to the original. For the ladder from first floor to second floor red room, we chose to create a set of stairs. We felt this best replicated the slowness of ascending the original ladder and we made it so the staircase is completely visible from the first floor so rockets can still affect someone on them. For the other ladders, we didn't have room to create stairs, so we went with lifts. Each lift opening has enough room for the player to drop back down through to the lower level.

    GAME TYPES / SPAWNING:

Our main focus for game types was Slayer, so Classic Slayer, Slayer and SWAT should play fairly well. You will notice a couple new weapons added to the map because in playing, it felt really sparse. Elite Slayer could work, but some of the doorways are too short for Elites to fit under without crouching and we didn't want to change them just for that game type. If that is a favorite of yours, it should be easy enough to accommodate. The spawns for Slayer types should also be correct to the original. For the other supported game types, we tried to match the originals where we could, but we created our own spawns instead of trying to map the originals. For Assault and CTF, the weapons and power ups have been changed to be in line with Halo: CE, but you will note that the health packs from the other game types are still there and the health pack that appears where invisibility normally appears is not there.

    KILL ZONES:

Simply for aesthetics, we recreated the T-shaped openings in the ceiling, but to avoid any chicanery with jet packs, we've added soft and hard kills zones to the map. You will encounter a soft kill zone as you approach the ceiling. If you enter one of the T-shaped openings, either on the wall or ceiling side, you will hit the hard kill zones. You have been warned.

Seems you're new round here, so i thought I'd be the first to welcome ya :)

Do you have them set to "GAMETYPE SPECIFIC: TRUE"? That must be on in order for them to be gametype specific.

Also you realize you must set different Health packs for each gametype, correct? Not sure if you did this, but that may be your problem too.

As for the map, it looks really good :) Prisoner was awesome. How does the Rocket Platform work compared to the original?

Well, we got around the health pack bug by not including any health packs that are game type specific. The original post has been updated with what we hope is the final version of our Prisoner remake and some additional information about the bug we found. Hopefully someone from Bungie will be able to shed some light on this.
