Thanks guys. I'm definitely glad your enjoying the map. If you can't seem to hit the mongooses, try aiming where you think they will go. The rockets take much longer to travel distances.

hey not sure if anyone else had this issue, but when i played this with some buddys, and for the record we did have the correct gametype, when ever the "runners" got the flags and brought them back, they did not collect. the flags just stayed there untill they re-spawned some 45 seconds later. there was no place tom put the captured flags. anyways just wondering if that had been fixed or not.

I'm sure he was using the correct gametype. The timer is located on the top crossbar of the collection area. It was placed there so you can see the timer from all the way across the map. Obviously, the timer is not the capture area. The shield door that you drive through into and out of the spawns is where the area starts and ends. Anywhere on the beach, is part of the capture zone. If you can see the timer, your on the correct gametype (or your using stockpile). Only the attacking team can see it.

If you mean something else, please describe it a bit better. I first suggest downloading the newer gametype in case yours may be broken.

I didn't have any problems with the gametype when I played - was the map was a blast.[/drumkit] I really loved the idea, and the use of the stockpile was quite creative. 10/10.

Phew. Thanks for confirming it then. I only tested the updated version once or twice because I changed minor things. I thought I may have messed up a setting or something.

Fun game! May i suggest adding 2 "emergency" revenant-turrets the defenders can teleport to on the opposite end of the field, maybe with a soft kill barrier there.

I played this last night and it was loads of fun, for both teams, which is an important aspect to creating a fun and compelling casual game. I'd love to see something like this on the front page since it's great for large parties.

I did have one complaint though, I played in a large partied game and some players who weren't able to participate would wreck other players vehicles and ruin the fun. I'd suggest a revamp to the game type removing the ability for players to deal damage to their team mates.

One instance of team mate sabotage allowed me to break out of the contraption and into the field below. I was taken out of commission by my own team mate, which upset me a little, because I had been doing some major damage, but I devised a new plan of action. I decided against camping the flag spawn, which would have been game ruining for the other team, but instead took a mongoose and lead my team's only and solitary offensive strike against the other team. I managed to hack and slash my way into their spawn where I was defeated by my own zealotry. In a case of the 'Leeroy' I stab the fuel tank of a passing mongoose, which exploded it's driver and I up.

I enjoyed my momentary freedom and I played fair even though I wasn't supposed to leave my fortified precipice. Were I a more devious and cunning individual seeling a victory rather than fun, I would have camped the flag spawn.

All of this is a result of team damage, again I'd like to see that changed, since the same jerk who let me loose also kept destroying our teams sole source of transport when we switched sides on the field.

Again, great work, this is a ton of fun for large parties and easy and simple to understand.

That's a good recommendation, and as a backup, maybe you could add a hard kill volume, between the tower and the ground. So, if someone finds a way out of the tower by accident or treachery, they won't be bothered with the moral dilemma of camping the flag or not camping the flag.

I love this game, by the way. Great job of advancing the Mongoose run minigame concept.

I played this last night at TGIF, and it was a ton of fun.

Some problems were sabotaging teammates, and a shortage of mongooses for the attacking team. Also, if you hit a mongoose with your sword while a teammate was on it, it would explode.

Aside from those, it was some of the most fun I've had in customs.
We played against a really good team. We almost beat them. One game we got down 8-1 and we came back and tied it in the last round. This game actually takes quite a bit of skill. Good job.

Where you guys playing the updated version of the map? If you got on top of the hogs and walked ontop of the barrier before falling, you would've instantly died. I don't know how you could escape it unless there is some form of glitch that bypasses the death barriers, because the updated version has every inch of the openings in the base covered.

When you say "Weren't able to participate", do you mean for attackers without a mongoose? I was a bit confused until rereading that, because there are 8 hogs and 8 mongooses. I guess if someone blows up a hog, it may take some time to spawn in during an 8v8. I never had someone shoot at the hogs until the day after I released the map, which kind of irritated me. I think people were enjoying it and having fun, and never thought about it.

Stockpile settings limit my ability to make this game perfect. There is no team killing, but they can kill your hog. The reason I cannot make hogs invincible is because mongooses will be invincible, taking much longer to respawn. I have them each set to one second respawn time and min and max are both at 8. It also ruins the damage and health settings because it is much harder to kill people on the mongooses. I cannot place barriers blocking the hogs from shooting each other, because it would give all the hogs a smaller field of view.

I wanted to make this game exactly how I pictured it, and didn't want to make it less fun by attempting to restrain the hogs. I think I have achieved the best possible settings with what Reach lets me do. Escaping the map must involve some sort of glitch, because like I said before, I have all the escape routes covered with death barriers. Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it.

The updated version has about 4 hard kill areas blocking all the escape areas completely. I believe there is one for each side (left, center, and right) spanning far down, and one on its side spanning a bit further down. If they go down anymore, they will interfere with the mongooses using the jump.

Lots of people have suggested some hogs on the far side of the field, but I never really liked the idea. I would have to remove hogs from the front, which would lower the awesomeness level of possibly 48 rockets coming from a single direction. I would also need to delete objects to make a similar room for the hogs. The last reason I thought of was people fighting over those hogs because they are closer to the stockpile (even if they are facing the flag spawn).

Revenants don't really go with the gameplay and wouldn't quite work the same. Thanks for the comment though, glad you like the map.

I'm very happy this got played at TGIF, and I hope everyone liked it. Like I said earlier, the mongoose problem is one I cannot resolve. Unless the min and max works different then it did in Halo 3, I believe I set them up correctly. Since they are vehicles, they need to disappear before they respawn.

The sword doesn't destroy the vehicles right after you respawn due to respawn traits, this was to stop people from accidentally clicking the wrong button when trying to drive it. I am now thinking about it again, and there may have been a better way to fix this. I thought I made it 0% Melee damage, but maybe I didn't.

Another suggestion was using plasma repeaters as the primary weapon, because they do almost no damage to vehicles. I didn't use it because people could still get lucky and hit the hog shooters from the playing field.

Comebacks feel amazing while playing this, I have tested it so much that every game has been different, even if the teams are the same. Thanks for the comment.

Played this game several times now and I have to say I love it. One of the few that has found a permanent placement on my hard drive. And I do mean few. like 3.

I do have a suggestion to avoid team mates blowing up other wart hogs either by accident or design. Place shield doors in between them. Just normal shield doors not one ways. Should be more than enough and wouldn't affect field of fire onto the map or keep players from moving around.

IF you can fix those few problems you'd almost certainly get a feature. This game is far to popular amongst the community not to.

I was in on the game with Stxman, on the opposing team. It was crazy freaky fun when they ruched out all with a flag going separate directions on the last round. That is what brought them up to a tie in the second game. First game we spanked them though.

I'd like to think they wouldn't have beaten us in a third game if we had played one but they had some crazy good team work at the end.

The only place I could put shield doors is on the inside of the hog area:

The green would be where I could place shield doors that would stop people from shooting. The Red is impossible to block off without actually destroying that hogs ability to shoot. The middle 4 hogs would have a HUGE advantage if I were to place shield doors on the outside attempting to block them off. There would be a problem with people wanting the middle hogs because of the limited lines of sight on the other four. I believe I have made the best possible way to see the whole map and have the most fun.

I hope that explained what I am talking about. If the hogs were in a straight line across the middle, it would be easy to stop people from blowing up each others hogs. But even then people could still walk up and melee them so they blow up.

So the question is, completely ruin my original setup and creation in order to avoid an easy to enforce Honor Rule?

    :O Thanks for the sticky!

Oh, I thought this was cool...

Congrats on the sticky, it is well deserved. I haven't played this map yet but the gameplay from the video looks amazing and very fun. Orignal yet simple. Still looks fun. I will edit this post when I get to play it.

Hmm... I'll have a look at it tonight when I have time and see if I can figure it out, but there should be a way to do it.

I've been looking around, and there really isn't much that can fix it. I am out of Building Blocks completely, and all usable objects I have left are in the decorative section. At $50 per object, that's too much considering I only have around $500 left.

Still, I really wish I could fix it without a dramatic overhaul of the map.

This map was a blast. I played it with many different party sizes. the bigger the better but was always fun. The only thing was that trolls who turn and blow up the warthogs.
This map is great for making screenshots.
