    TUF's Graphic Art

Well, as the title implies, this is my very first piece of graphic art. That is, if you exclude pixel art for minecraft texture packs. It is quite obviously abstract, and I made it for no paticular reason. It was easy to make, but nevertheless I thought it looked cool. Any feedback?

I don't know what to call them in the foreground, but I'll call them squigglies. Alright the squigglies need to be smoothed out more and thinned in a bit and slighlty widened in others. Make it a little transparent in some places as well and then darken the background to make the squiggles stand out. It's pretty flat as it is now, but with more adjustments it could reach its potential.

Thats pretty good for a first piece, most people's first is a flashy over the top eyesore...

Needs more depth between the squiggles and the background, however the overall simplicity is quite nice.

I would try and create some variance in shape and thickness in the lines, as they are more or less repeats of each other.

You need a focal as well, right now my eyes just don't know where to look. Also, text is meh. Not terrible for a first, I've seen much much worse.

Well, thanks for your feedback. I'll make sure to take these things into account in the future.

Here is a quick piece I just made. I did not make this from scratch, but layered effects on a photo.

Stock? Seems like you just applied a couple filters to a picture, and therefore it would be pointless to critique elements you did not do yourself.

The second one of what looks like trees brings back terrible memories of bifurcation plots.

As you're just starting out, I can see why you want to minimize the effort you put into these just to get the practice, but you should try to get away from just putting filters on pictures or drawing a few lines. I really like how you keep things clean and simple.

Thanks for the feedback, you obviously know everything I'm thinking right now. Anyway, I am using Paint.net. It seems to be working pretty well, but I should probably upgrade to gimp soon. I can't really do complex effects with Paint.net.

EDIT: Just downloaded it in less than a minute, with my epic internet. So many buttons x_x

[ link ] This was done by me using Paint.net because I didn't have access to my computer or photoshop. It just takes more time than you're putting forward.

I completely agree with how lazy I'm being. Either that, or I simply do not have the skill yet. To get effects on the circles, I'm guessing all you have to do is make a new layer and add effects on it? That is a lot of layers, I suppose, but I'll try to make some more stuff from scratch. Thanks for inspiration, though. Also, anyone know how to make lines glow (like neon) using GIMP? Similar to the glowing lines in the "Colour Splash" tutorial. Anyone know a way to make smooth lines?

Btw, I am renaming the thread to "TUF's Graphic Art", so I don't spam this forum. :p
    EDIT: Didn't work.

I think the light kinda messed up the picture. I will investigate.

    Sorry for the low quality.
