i get the impression there is a top open area for vehicle combat and a lower level for infantry, am I right?
the top level is for both types of combat. up there you will find the sniper rifle as well as the central pit's rocket launcher (or spartan laser. i am unsure still.) both top and bottom level definitely support infantry. the top level has the vehicles. and the vehicles will surely go down to the bottom level too, if you want to get blown off the edges
I really like this post and from the looks of it, this kind of map. Why? it has a sense of humour, how exactly a map can have a sense of humour, I don't know but I like maps like that, yeah I'll be up for testing for sure man. I'm mean it looks quite open but I'm sure there's a reason for that, you need some gameplay footage maybe.
thanks, i guess. i'm not sure where the humor is to be found though. an explanation of what you essentially found funny about the map would be awesome. the whole point of posting a map preview, i would assume, is for decisive feedback. some of that would be great. and you say my map looks open. it is a gladiator ring. ive never heard of enclosed ones. i know i have to have gameplay that works. i think i do. and you said i need some gameplay footage. that would be awesome to have, if someone would play the map with me. quite frankly i have found 0 people who want to do so. most of my friends are old CoD players.
i am down to help test. its impossible to give any real feedback without playing myself. it looks good so send me invite when testing.
The laser and even sniper are going to be incredibly overpowering on a map this open. I suggest that since the arena is the focal point of your map that you keep everything on the outside to a minimum and add much more cover to the arena. I know they look nice, but using decorative objects like the large braces (for the stands) and the crenelation covers and prefabricated buildings like the bunkers kills your budget In any case the central area will need more cover and you need to find a way to do that even if it requires removing parts of your map.
ill remove weapons if they are overpowering, which i do think is the case if i were to have a sniper and a rocket. i am thinking i should only have rocks at the bottom of the pit. as to adding anything. impossible. i have 50 bucks. as to deleting things to add things, impossible. i literally cannot change anything without deleting the actual floor. the way i built this thing is crazy. this is what i envisioned this map to be in my head. let us test it and see. if it needs drastic work. ill take drastic measures. but not until she's been tested. i am thinking this weekend one evening would be a perfect time to test. if you wanna help with spawn and weapon placement at that time thatd be great. i think a good friendly run through is always needed, like fetus said. 1 bunker small=3 crenelations or braces=15 walls or building blocks Do you still feel incapable of adding stuff? Depending on when you test, I might be on and willing to test.

Errr, nevermind, my bad, a bit of a weird thing to say really, I just meant that I liked your post and the name sounds like the way they say gladiator on the TV show. And I disagree, about the map preview just being for decisive feedback - you can also just look for new friends to help with testing, and you'd be lucky to get any feedback around here. Forgehub has been really overloaded since Reach come out, I hope it doesn't go the way of the bungie forums and get really overloaded. Anyways, I forgot to post my gamertag: ScalpelTechniqe. I'm busy for the next few days but I'm always up for customs.
Out of curiousity, did you mispell gladiator on purpose to give a sense of uniqueness in the name, or did you for some reason mispell it on purpose? I don't think anyone could accidentaly fail that bad at spelling gladiator, but I could be wrong. I think I've only seen one map that has anywhere near the same design as this, and I can't really make a say on which one is better at the given moment, but this design is very rarely used. Shame, cause it's one of my favorite designs that I've seen more than once. So what gametypes do you think you will start off with (once you feel you should publicly release it.) in V1?
I misspelled it on purpose to be unique, because with the overabundance of maps that are postedi figured the word gladiator spelled correctly would have already been taken. With my maps I aim for originallity, because too many maps on here are just gray corridors that float in the sky and that is not my goal for any map I ever make. The other map I am working on is enclosed but still isn't a maze of gray corridors. This map, glhadihaitor, is ready for slayer but I haven't added flag yet which I will be doing. I still have some trouble with the objective markers and respawns concerning the flag (away respawn, etc) Sorry if I sounded harsh. Ill be on tonight so i'll hit you up.
