I was playing on forge one day and i was wondering where do people like to forge on forge world. My favorite is Just up in the air anywhere in forge world or in the cove by the waterfall. Just post and say where you like to forge
I don't have any particular place I guess. I usually use the area I'm forging in as inspiration for the map design - only one map I've made wasn't highly dependent on where it was being built. So once I build a map in a particular place, I'm not too likely to build there again. That's why I wish Bungie would do a new forging map in a map pack - I'm running out of inspiration, having looked at every square inch of Forge World a dozen times or more.
Well as a person who mostly creates race maps, I always enjoy racing through the canyon. There are so many bumps and jumps that it is easier to work the terrain into my maps. However, recently I have found that the terrain on the cliff-tops of the canyon hold some very neat material to work with.
I make more air maps. I wish i could use the pillar more creatively, I think it has more potential than people think.
Anywhere that I haven't used yet. None of my maps use the same space (except two that use Alaska, but one is on the very edge and the other uses the rest of that area) I try to build into the terrain and love to use terrain that is seldom used. Basically I like doing what's not been done. I make unique maps as best I can. Not enough people use the terrain to good effect I think. My maps are usually asymmetrical due to using the terrain but hey, I like asymmetrical the best.
i like air maps as well...but i like air maps that are close to the water so i can make structures like support polls to make the map look "more" realistic, even if you dont actually see them or interact with them in anyway. i just think its a nice aesthetic touch! but does anybody else see this skull in the mountains...once i noticed it, i REALLY noticed it and now it bugs me cause its such a dominant part of the surrounding forge world... [br][/br]Edited by merge: oh i also agree with that! if im making a low water map i try and not do it by the water fall....where most water/air maps are placed...
I usually forge in the air between the island and the pillar, below the coliseum. I don't like premade parts because then it feels partly like other maps. That includes geometry.
I would tell you, but it's one of only few places that haven't been forged to death, and I don't want that to happen now. But basically I try to forge anywhere that hasn't been forged to death.
I particularly love the rectangular area above the Forerunner inlet by the waterfall. It's so neat and not rocky.
The mass of water North of the Island and Quarry seem to be the two most inspirational spots for slayer maps (in my opinion).
My new love is that pocket of forgeable space above forgeworld. The lighting is the same across all of the objects so there are no light or dark objects.
I look at the map that want to build, and try to find a part of FW that I can incorporate into that map. The less pieces I have to add, the more detail I can include. Recently though I have been trying to use that triangle of un-drownable water just outside the border, where the 'City Sewers' map was made.
