I downloaded it and had a look round, I think its really good!

I'd avoid putting any tanks on. Tanks always become a big target in any game. First everyone races to get them and then theres a race to destroy them! Its stupid the number of times I've been booted because team mates jump in front of my boosting race just so they can drive it.

The Coliseum walls bug me, I know they're not intrusive or anything but it seems a shame to have such ugly walls. You could you not just have soft kill zones and subtle land marks to indicate the edge of the map?

Not a fan of them either - but they are need to define the playing area. The walls have been lowered as much as possible to allow the natural walls of the gorge to show above. There are killzones in place beyond the walls already, but removal of these hardsurfaces would affect gameplay too much. Thankfully they are not as imposing as they could be. :)

Oh well. When I first saw the screenshots I was a little worried but in an actual game I guess they'll be as noticeable as those tiny bumps you always got between blocks in Halo 3 merging. You'd know they were there in Forge but they're no bother in actual gameplay.

Bother's in gameplay? Thanks to the Forgehub community and friends I have a list of things that are a bother in gameplay. You guys gave me more to chew than a goat in a dumpster and it is going to take time to address all the issues along with the fine tuning the map needs. Thanks guys >.<

Can you give us a date in 2011 that you aim to have this completed by?

2, maybe sooner. The map is pretty much finished barring gametype additions but I dont have everything together for the post yet. I will post a beta here for community scrutiny for a few days while I get some talented to help with the Brochure.

Actually I found navigating the tight turns difficult even with a warthog over the small spaces, especially with its new properties of skidding, so a wraith would probably be too big and unwieldy. The map was really good as a start for recreating Valhalla, but It seemed like it was missing some finishing touches to smooth out gameplay when I played it.

's true about the tight lines in the hog. not a ribbon track but tight. and bumpy.
....but what about the gameplay, this is more important, what made that part rough?
If you give more specifics to work with it can be made better.

I dont know, I kinda liked the antenneas. Gave the map some flair and I could imagine would help with player orientation. Also, as mentioned before, rockets lock on to banshees now, and the antenneas would be useful in dodging them. I dont remember rockets being on Valhalla, but I remember rockets were in your map during playtests.

No more Missle Pod, so I substitued for rocks (no reload) spawn timed same as the Banshees. I tried the Plasma Launcher but it was a bit too much. My favorite is still when the Banshee spree guy gets his arse ripped by the Spartan Laser.

Trying to drop Valhalla onto Forge World starts out as a failing proposition because gameplay was defined by the warthogs. No warthogs makes a completely different game and even tampering with their paths will screw up the game. Instead of the figure eight sort of path on Valhalla (which had three loops) It's cut off here so it's more like a curved line between the bases. I'll probably be on forge tomorrow so I could help you fix up the warthog paths.

you should probably take out that giant window behind waterfall base and just put some smaller barriers if you can other than that it looks freaking amazing man.

Thanks, get alot of questions about that window. What I am trying to do with it is recreate the walled off feeling behind blue base like the original Valhalla while also blocking more of Hemmorage out. The big obstacle is how much I have left to work with, and in the other Valhalla remakes I have seen by having a solid wall successfully accomplished this, so I put a window (a Call A See Em Wall was so friggin ugly >.<) This will be looked at; you are not the first to mention it, and if it can be replaced it will. thanks for checking her out.

Why don't you make a Mini (realy mini) Vallaha here.
It has the rock river and stuff...

I usually wait for inspiration to hit before Forging, if you are inspired by this you should make it, a 2v2 Valhalla Micro would be awesome - and it is your idea. Do it! Probably will be awesome.

I do not have another TV on hand to make a valhalla remake...

Moreover, my favorite maps are on halo 1...

I Do not have enough budget to remake Boarding Action though :(

Go into each base and delete one railing. You now have enough money for ten colosseum window or walls, or 5x5 blocks if you used the walls up.

I still have the budget, that is not the problem. The problem is preserving coherence and minimizing FR issues. I have recently reduced the amount of 'back area' for each base because of FR problems while in the Banshee in those areas and adding more pieces which will be visible across the map is not a good idea; gameplay will suffer. Missed you the other day, Pyro, I was on and did go through and adjust the Warthog lines, however the map still plays more like Standoff than Valhalla when it comes to the Hog and learning the terrain will make your driving experience better. Please remember the terrain is ALL WRONG for remaking Valhalla and getting this far has been a trial of patience.

This is a very impressive remake, great job, everything looks really accurate...just a smaller scale. Great work
