I just dug out the border for a 59x59x3 room. Now all I have to do is clear out the middle. 10443 blocks (and some more) to dig out.

Ive heard the Super Mario Bros theme, and a Legend of Zelda Hyrule tune. I really hope someone posts youtube vids explaining how to set these songs up.
You use inverters, it delays the note for about a tenth of a second. I love the arrow array machines. Specially the fire ones.

Arrow array machine with lava in front of it. There was an amazing video on kotaku where the guy stood on a hill and it had a box with cake and it said, press for cake. He pressed it and a super secret wire underground set of a barrage of flaming arrows which was as high as the map came flying down on him. I **** brix!
Uhh, did you not see that I posted the very same video you are describing before you described it??? I have started the construction of my desert base. I need to figure out how I'm going to spider proof the walls though... :/
I saw it on Kotaku first! But no if I did I wouldn't have described it -.- Nice base btw, and I think spiders can only climb up certain blocks and so you can put a single layer of one type of material..
Actually, I just did some testing to see what I could do to spider proof my wall, and then I slapped myself for not realizing that the answer was incredibly obvious. Height. Spiders can't climb major distances, they can only go up small distances of 4 or 5 blocks. Which helps them a lot in a chase, but not climbing a wall 20 blocks high. EDIT: At least that's what I saw. I looked at the minecraft forum and heard stories of spiders climbing high walls. EDIT2: After another night of testing, I found out that: -How far the spiders climb before falling seems random. Sometimes, they don't fall and make it to the top and most of the time they fall after climbing ~5 blocks. I guess the spiders I was getting earlier were brain dead. -Spiders can climb sandstone, just not as often or as high, but every now and then they will scale a sandstone wall. -Building a lip into the wall is likely the best way to spider-proof it. -Skeleton arrows are very effective at knocking me off of my wall.
