Author: Sotha Sil156 Map Name: Howling Harbor Supported Gametypes: Maelstrom Map Canvas: Boardwalk Map Size: Medium Player Count: 6-10 __________________________________________________ Description: Maelstrom on Howling Harbor Out with the Old Maelstrom, some of you may remember, was originally a gametype I made in Halo 3. You can see the original thread here if you like. It was a VIP game in which players had to use their needlers to separate the other team from their VIP in order to kill them, because they were invulnerable when they were in their VIP's proximity. Anyway, I couldn't do an exact remake in Reach for a couple reasons: There is no VIP. People are not pushed by needle explosions. And so, Maelstrom on Howling Harbor is more a spiritual successor than anything else. Sorry to anyone who loved the original; I miss it too. In with the New In Maelstrom, one player on each team picks up their armor lock / territory. Their team gets one point for each second their territory is uncontested. When in a territory (of either team), players are invulnerable, but when they are not in a territory, they can be killed. They have concussion rifles with bottomless clips, and can do damage at all times. From left to right: A Blue outside their territory (white and vulnerale), a Blue inside their territory (blue and invulnerable), and the Blue territory holder. You can play either of two roles: Defenders stay with their own territory, and use their concussion rifles to force the enemy team out of it (to keep it from being contested) and kill them. The territory holder is always a defender. Use your concussion rifles to force the other team out of your territory. Attackers go after the enemy territory, trying to contest it and stay in it as long as possible without getting forced out and dying, so as to keep the enemy team from getting points. Gametype I will put up detailed gametype options soon. Video I will try to put up a short video soon. Or, if you would like, play the game and render a video yourself. It will probably be much better than mine would. Screenshots Each team starts on opposite sides of the map, a short ways away from their territory. Armor lock is useful if you are close to falling off the map. If you do, however, your team is almost guaranteed to lose. Be Careful! When you are white, you can be killed. The two teams face off, but a Red is already contesting the Blue territory. Download Maelstrom on Howling Harbor
Hm, it is a pretty original idea, and looks fun, but here is my problem. It seems like you tried to skip out on work by using one of bungie's maps, and then just deleted pretty much everything and didnt do much to it afterward. I suggest starting out on forgeworld, and making your own map to fit the game better. One thing exciting about playing a fun custom game is the map itself. So, no dl from me, because, I dont like that map your using. :/ Please make a map from scratch, then this game would look better. Just trying to help. Oh, and by the way, I know you can forge because I like your halo 3 maps.
Hmm . . . You have a point. Actually, I originally tried to make it as close to the original, which was only a gametype (for use on any map) as possible, but it turns out that aside from that being essentially impossible, only a couple of the default maps played even okay with it at all. And Boardwalk was the best. I should make a custom map for it sometime though, now that I have no reason not to.
Why waste a cool Minigame on Forge World? I HATE to make Maps on Forge World because of the stupid Forerunner objects. I love it when people do their best to make a non-Forge World Map. Since i'm a purist, i'll DL.
