Spectre by superduper66 GT: I Frightmare I Spectre is one of two maps I began for Halo Reach. It is a remake of a map I made in Halo 3, also called Spectre. It was also one of two submissions for the Forgetacular Contest. Spectre is an Asymmetric competitive multiplayer map designed and balanced to play competitive Symmetrical gametypes, such as Team Slayer and Multi Flag. It was very much inspired by the Halo CE map "Hang 'Em High", in case you feel you get the vibe (seriously, what map isn't inspired by Hang 'Em High?). The map is open, so players must use teamwork if they want to get things done. Each team gets access to a Shotgun with 1 clip and a Concussion Rifle, also with clip. Each team also gets access to their own set of DMRs and Needle Rifles closest to their side of the map. Power weapons include a Rocket Launcher, placed in the center of the narrow catwalk across the center of the map.It is placed there because it is a pivotal weapon in terms of map control and is highly contested. Putting it in a hard-to-reach area seen by everywhere on the map seemed to be the best place. A Gravity Hammer is located below on top of a central mini-cave. It is a useful weapon since it has an area of effect and can prove more useful with Sprint than the Shotguns do. The Sniper Rifle is located at the edge of the map under a four-way set of arches. It was mainly placed there to promote movement to that end of the map, and to move the team out of their comfort zone. All the main power weapons are placed in neutral locations so both teams must fight over them. The best gametypes for this map would include good ol' Team Slayer (DMR starts for more competitive gameplay), and Multi Flag gametypes (preferably with short return/reset times and Flag at home to score, DMR stats for more competitive gameplay). Stockpile can also be very fun, and Headhunter and King of the Hill are also supported. I wont let this fall into the abyss! It took me a while to figure out why this was a remake but now I remember this on halo 3. It was a cool asymmetric layout originally but it has benefitted greatly on forge 2.0. I really like some of the aesthetic touches as well, such as the covy crates, the cave area, and the doorways. From the vid I saw a bit of z-fighting but otherwise excellent forging. Nice job!
Thanks No idea why people no wanna say anything about it :/ Haha yea, I remade it from Halo 3 (posted about it in the OP). Except with a lot of massive improvements was there any specific areas you saw z-fighting?
Looks like a well-executed build you have here. Aesthetics are clean and I'm sure it makes for a good FFA game. Just a tip: You can embed youtube videos just by posting a link to the video in the test and not hyperlinking it.
