Border Patrol is a mini game from Call of Duty, where a small team of snipers try to stop a big team of runners from "crossing the border." Well here it is now on Halo: Reach! Teams: 1 - 4 Spartans v.s. 1 - 12 Elites (Note: The fuller the teams, the better) Loadouts: Spartans - Sniper Rifles, Sprint Elites - Plasma Pistol, Sprint/Evade Gametype: Custom (Download) Objectives: Spartans - Snipe the Elites to stop their progression across the border of the Forge Canyon. Elites - Find cover and shelter as you make your way through checkpoints and across the border to safety. Checkpoints: 3, 5 minutes for each Chances: Only one. Reason you should download: Its a fun gametype to paly with friends, and see how far you can get, including to see how many can survive crossing the border. Elite Spawn Point; Chance for planing and last minute switches. Spartan Spawn Point; Full view of canyon for sniping First checkpoint; Easy to get to, now things get trickier Elites must take cover with what they can find to progress Use good timing on your runs to survive Second checkpoint; now things get tougher Spartans have unlimited ammo, but have to reload. Time your shots for better use Elites will find less and less cover as they progress A shack is the last safe area of cover before that last sprint to the teleporter Last checkpoint; Note: The frontal area can still be seen by the snipers, so stay back. If you feel gutsy, pick up a Plasma Launcher to take out the Spartans. You get sniped, you don't respawn. Its up to your teammates now.
just one thing quick, border patrol was on Halo 2 on zanzibar, so it wasn't created by people from CoD, just a heads up looks pretty cool, I'll DL and see if its any good, it seems like the distance is really far, you get one good sniper and it gets down to luck on the elites part
If you mean armor abilities, then yes, they get a loadout choice of Sprint or Evade, and in case they change their mide, Sprint and Evade AAs are provided fro switch-out before they start their run. Really? I did not know that, so thanks for the info. I just only saw it being played on COD, so I thought otherwise, my mistake. And yes, I thought if there was one great sniper, the Elites might have trouble, but thats why they'll always have to reload, to give Elites a better chance.
I still think its a bit too hard...mmm...Maybe you should add active camo or something I dunno. And maybe add more lives instead of 1 how about 3-5 to make the game longer for other people.
Well, the rules of Border Patrol, from what I've seen, is you only get one life. I've tested this map with friends, and I was one of the ones who made it all the way to the end with Evade. And the idea of the game is to run for your life, so using Active Camo and slowly inching your way there won't be fun. Besides, its a casual map, played with friends, more to having fun than seriousness. We kept seeing who could make it the farthest while getting sniped at. Much like your comment? Well then, let me just edit out the part where I said I made up this game and its all my idea. Oh wait, I never said that. I know it isn't original, I said so myself I saw this being played on COD, and another commenter said it was made on Halo 2. So of course the game isn't original. And the reason its not exactly "creative" is because I first wanted to see how many people would want to bring this game into Halo: Reach. If it gets enough popularity, I'll make more advanced maps. Until then, this map will do it.
I really wish I could forge and test maps wit you, but I have no Xbox live yet. Dammit. About the map, It looks very cool, I have no complaints. The map seems very simple though.
The map contains the lookout for the snipers, and placement of rocks and walls on the other side of the canyon as cover for the elites. yes, this first map is very simple. but not from lazyness or lack of skill. like i said, as i see more and more people like the idea, i'll make a more advanced map.
I remember using smoke gernades and c4/claymore too. don't know how or if you can incorporat this into the game. just throwen it out there. as for the map. I would call unballenced. Im a fairly good sniper and will always get the kill given the chance (or not >:3) But still. give the elites something like assault rifles/plasma repeater and no damage output. at least they could blind fire to knock out your scope.
wow, new post on my old map and old gametype. anyway, the reason it wouldn't be a good idea to give elites any kind of weapons is because in the time it would take an elite to aim and shoot, they'd already be sniped. besides, this was just to get the idea of border patrol in Halo Reach, more of a way to get people to think "hmm, maybe i should make a map for a border patrol type gametype"
