It has been a long 4 months but I believe Optikal is finally becoming the map I had hoped it would be. Improvements: Widened Long Hall Lengthened and Widened Channel Opened the top snipe a bit more Reduced platform size Decreased "Clunky" feeling of the overall movement. Lengthened and widened Purple Hall Added more Aesthetics Removed purple light due to framerate Added a LoS to Training side Weapon layout is still currently the same. Thanks, ILL F4tED </u> Hello, I am new to the Forge Forum but have been forging competitive maps for quite a while. It wasn't until recent that my friend told me to submit this one to MLG & now Forgehub. So, here I am with all my nervousness hoping you guys like it as much as I loved forging it. I would like to start by saying this is a Spiritual successor to Halo 3's "The Pit". I have forged this map with spawns, Game-play, LoS, and Over-All Flow in mind. I would appreciate if you gave this map a try. I have put Hours, Days, Weeks, & Months worth of work into perfecting Optikal. Optikal, as all of my maps, is continuously changing and evolving as the competition evolves. With that said, let's start. Optikal was designed after The Pit but with flow in mind and feel. It feels like Pit, but runs at a faster pace, the intended design. Line of sights (LoS) have been added, one notably being top snipe to Objective, to create a much more intense objective game, namely flag. Also, I am taking any feedback. It includes withing lines of reason but I am willing to take what I can get. I am willing to change a lot in order to make Optikal work! Ok so I'll be the first to comment here. I DL'd this last night and ran a few games on it this morning. Let me start by saying that The Pit is in my all time top 3 favorites for full-on team slayer. I loved the pit and I love this tribute to it. I have a couple forged Pit tributes as well that are close to completion, but after playing this one I may just hold them back. This map looks and plays fantastically. It's The Pit.... but it's not- but in a good way. In fact (and I'll need to play it more to be sure), I might actually prefer this to the original--- with one BIG exception. There is no Energy Sword in the sword room. That is what gave that area of the board advantage and has lead countless chiefs to their deaths trying to obtain it. So now there's a sword room area with nothing in it. So - not a lot of reason to go in there at all. That is my only complaint, and I'm not even a sword user. But I love the satisfaction of going for the Bulltrue. Fantastic map though even with the sword room thing. I'll be playing this one a lot more until a better alternative comes along.
Appreciate the support! I kept the sword open as to promote movement around the map. I did not include a sword because I feel it would ruin the pace of the map, as a shotgun would not, in my opinion. I can, however, test this sword proposition for you. Again, much appreciation for the support! I am not ignorant and am open to all propositions on what YOU think would improve the map! i remember playing on the v like 4 or 5 and it was just terrible framerate issues and it could barely be played. But no you took everything everyone has gave you and made your map into a crazy ass pit re imagination, im dam proud to see how far you and this map have come along into forging. I, Nyte, love you, Ill Fated. <3
Lol. All my maps suck until about v6 and I am well aware of that. I actually try to forge all my maps into perfection and add things that are amazing and remove things that make you want to punch a baby. Remember guys, give me feed back!
