Actually, Mac Xl had tore this down and built it back up rather extensively. The screen lag issues in II Macky II's, although no significant, are completely gone in Mac Xl's. He didn't steal it and spice it up with aesthetics, he tooks it and stripped it down and built it up more efficiently. But as Bleuprint pointed out, this isn't a competition. Why do we care so much about our name recognition? These maps are made for the players, not for the forgers personal fame.
You are right, it is about the players and not the forgers personal fame. If that is how you truly feel, then you should be on the other side of this arguement. The irony of your statement above is that Mac XL cares so much about name recognition that he refuses to give others credit for their contribution. Mac Xl actually doesn't care much at all about his name being on it. He doesn't go around promoting his version over others either. The dude simply took a map that was already good and made it better. He did it because he loved that map and wanted the community to have a solid version to play on. Yeah it's a bit lame he won't accredit II Macky II, but if he had been asked nicely from the start then he probably would have been cool about it. As for that Guardian, Blaze actually joined him on it... I think you may have been reading that out of context.
It seems people are only pulling one side of the story and flying with which side seems more kosher. Mac rebuilt lockout 4 times before getting it right then built it on tempest. He truly doesn't care about name recognition and is just looking for good gameplay on maps he was really into. The Guardian thing is a whole different story and if you go into the initial Guardian that was done with Blaze it is not playable. Snipe to gold and many other spots had horrible framerate issues that were fixed by Mac. Blaze said he is working on his own version of Guardian and I do hope he pulls it off even better. It just means I'll be playing on a even better remake and isn't that what everyone wants?
You should submit this to Forgetacular if it's not too late. I'm sure Bungie would implement it if enough people like it.
