Do you think the Pelican should be a pilot-able vehicle?

I think the Pelican should be a pilot-able vehicle. It would be great for a transport aircraft. Do you think so? And if so, should it be released as a free add-on?

Also, when you're up in the Covie ship, you can get in the turret of the Pelican that you're meant to be defending. You need to make very good use of your motion tracker (because you can't see anything) but you are invincible (well, I took no damage when I did it)

Protip: When you get in it, aim straight down and shoot until the turret falls off. Then you can see, and you can still shoot.

Well it is in campaign... but if it were usable in forgeworld or another map for customs, that would be fantastic!

Maybe in some type of invasion, other than that, no.

That being said, jacking one with the jetpack when it was full and taking it down would be fun.

Invasion and (extreme) BTB specific. As long as it functioned as well as the fan-made Pelicans in Halo CE (pc), I'm all for it in the larger maps. Phantom would be all sorts of awesome as well, of course.

Its already pillotable in campaign, and you can use its turret in Long Night Of Solace.

    In Multiplayer...
It depends. Its a big vehicle, tough to control and even tougher to land. I can see it having much use in many maps, and it wouldnt work on Boneyard at all.
Actually, now that I think of it, the only map in which it would be playable would be spire...

Remember the Elephant? Remember how everyone thought it was awesome for a little while and everyone wanted to drive it and take it in to battle as a movable base (like it was designed)? Remember how eventually people just gave up with the Elephants and any action they saw was to have their backsides rammed in to the sand dunes to make an immovable base?

Thats pretty much what would happen to the Pelican. Everyone will want to fly it, everyone will love it at first but then after a few months, gameplay will return to the usual run and gun.

How do you get into the pelican? What button do you press? Where can you get in?

Yes, because I have some map ideas that need a flying vehicle that has no (or few) turrets, but a lot of passenger seats.

    Eavr?

Yeah either way, its highly doubtful were ever going to see a Pelican in a palette, just because of the space it takes up.

a clumsy and ineffective vehicle being asked to be put in forge? sounds vaguely familiar... forklift maybe? i mean having a pelican in forge would be almost 100% useless but a smaller and more controllable flying vehicle. maybe 4 passenger limit and one driver? that would be fantastic.

Which is exactly why I think there should have been a transport Falcon varient, like the one in campaign. It wouldnt take up nearly as much memory as a Pelican, and would be much easier to drive.

Or, if at all possible, they change the mechanics of the Pelican. Better yet, adding a separate type of Pelican (you know, just like how the Falcon has 3 variants) in for some upcoming forge map in a future DLC, with these new mechanics. People seem to have it in their heads that developers injecting content through DLC is impossible (for some utterly stupid reason). What worse is people worrying about their storage space. Unless you're installing EVERY game you've ever played, including those you haven't bothered with in months, you should always have plenty of space.

By new mechanics, I mean old, really. Have it operate similar to the Pelicans modded into Halo PC. They flew QUITE well, as I alluded to earlier.

Dont do it. Why in gods name would anyone want a pelican in matchmaking? Maybe to bring the other team a killtrocity, or circle the spire a whole bunch - it's a fun idea but would only really work in a HUGE team battle on the whole of forgeworld; only then would a pelican make sense. Personally, how about just some forklifts for forge.

Who said anything about Matchmaking? Obviously, a Pelican (or some form of transport air vehicle) would only be used for casual/minigame maps.
