How far away is your computer and xbox compared to the other computers in the house? (To the router)

Im in the same room as the modem lol. I use an ethernet cable plugged directly into my xbox. I dont think its my computer since mine is far superior to my little brother's yet he still has a better connection.

You had a fiddle round with any router settings? QoS etc?

    Speedtest....

According to speedtest, Both my up and down is roughly 1. However, The computer loads pages pretty fast, and I rarely have to wait for a video to buffer on youtube. The download speed is also pretty fast.

Also, I dont lag on the xbox AT ALL anymore. So I dont know...

If that's the case, it's something with your router settings, you probably have some closed ports or something.

Do you have a lot of crap on your pc? There's loads of programs out there that are constantly stealing bandwidth by checking for updates and **** like that. My Avast! AntiVirus seems to be checking just about every hour for updates. I know that my AnyDVD checks frequently as well. Extension on Firefox, like my AccuWeather and WebMail Notifier plugs also hinder bandwidth.

Being a former Cable Modem Installer, I also know things like... time of day and how many subscribers are on the same node as you greatly influence bandwidth.

Also, any time my bandwidth sucks... I start getting suspicious of spyware being installed from shady websites and start updating my MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and run it a couple of times.

    Other possibilities...
    Bad ports on the router.
    Network card configurations/going bad.
    Bad network cable.

I too faced the same problem...I will suggest you as what I did to increase internet speed

    *I did
some basic maintenance on the PC:
a scan disk, a virus scan, a malware scan, and cleared the recycle bin.Deleted old files and temporary files.
    * Reset the Modem
(Sometimes switching OFF and ON your modem helps you to speed the internet.)
    * Optimized the cache/temporary Internet files.
(These files improve your Internet connection performance by not downloading the same file over and over.)

    *Closed other applications while surfing.

Then checked my connection again using Scanmyspeed.com and it got considerably increased.Even after doing all this you are not satisfied the Call your Internet service provider (ISP) and check whether upgradation of your plan is necessary.
